Re: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Filled With Vegetation
I almost always use a Carolina rig with a curly tail grub and occasionally a paddle tail grub. Today in the surf I switched the rig to a Carolina sinker-bead-swivel setup with the hook Texas style. It rarely got fouled by any weeds so I think I will switch to that rig in the lagoon.

Re: Mission Bay 20/24
FYI, you should consider physical therapy. I had some surgery on my shoulder a few years ago, went to physical therapy and regained full range of movement. Then a few months later, started hurting and went to physical therapy again and with a few exercises, problem went away in a few days.

Big Bay 11-2
Got in a few hours early today on SD Bay. Steady spottie bite south of the bridge on plastics but a red glitter translucent curly tail was the star. Buddy Dan spotted it in my box and pinned one on a 1/8 ball jig and proceeded to catch 2 to my 1. I was throwing a perch colored minnow with some ...

Mission Bay Slack Tide Success!
https://youtu.be/vwg_r4ODmK8
Hey all!
I finally made it back out onto Mission Bay Friday for a couple hours. The tide had very little water movement, but I still wanted to get out there. I tried some new baits for me from Hook Savvy Baits and ended up really liking their small swimbaits on the 1/8oz ...

Best luck so far
Well. I’ve had my moments of luck so far, but nothing quite like this one yet. Fishing one of my go to spotty spots, and was working my last few casts before heading back to the car. It was after sunset, and I had seen a few small ripples on the water. I had a free rig tied in with a 3” fluke, so I ...

Barracuda Bites in Mission Bay
Took the kayak out with my son and grabbed some perfect sized sardines from the bait barged. Trolled while throwing plastics. Around 3pm the bite picked up and got 6 barracudas, 4 spotties, 1 halibut. Was expecting a slow day but turned out pretty decent.

First day of wabbit season...at the south end of the Cays.

Water wasn't really moving yet....the crazy spotty bite should be going off any time....any minute now...just about now...heck, I'll take a consolation fish...

Re: High end Bass gear in Salt?
I fished with Curado 100Ds for many years and got pretty good at servicing them. The outside edge of the spool was something that I couldn't prevent from corroding even with a light freshwater rinse after each outing and eventually led to their retirement. I now fish Tranx 200s and although they ...

Re: Finally Happened- South Bay
Thanks for the post! I was going to write my own but I will just add to this one. That was an epic day on the water and not even half of the fish we caught made my video. I can't wait to get out there again soon. Cheers!

Boney Reward for Dodging Rain! 1-3-26
After watching the Beefshamen and McQuade tearing up the back bay on a recent high tide, we plotted out this weekend’s king tides to take our shot. As the week progressed we wondered if the weather would cooperate and juggled days last minute to today. Got the reward with my first bonefish and a ...

New Year, New PB
Headed out to Shelter Island around 630 for what turned into a gorgeous morning on the water. The tide was super high and not even at it's projected highest at 9ish, you can see from the point by the Bali Hai. I wasn't having much luck at my usual spots, some hits but no pins. I decided to try ...

Don't spit into the wind....
Or buck a king tide in a float tube.
Got a tow back across the bay from a buddy with a drill/prop setup on his tube. This, after the third member of our group reminded me that it was probably a bad idea to "go all the way over there unless you want to get an Uber back to your truck."
Oh well ...

Re: Don't spit into the wind....
Was a great day on the water even if it was a bit “slower” than usual this time of year. Was still able to land at least 30 bass. They were a big fan of the small size chatter baits paired with a 3 inch fluke as a trailer.
Ended with 5 bones with the biggest being 20 inches which was a great fight ...

Evening Bay tour and a few fish
After procrastinating for months I finally got the lights rigged up on my raft. Went with two guys from work, got out to the end of the Zuniga jetty about 6. Very calm around the south side. After finding a spot with no pots started throwing 5” swimbaits. 1st calico about 10 minutes later, then my ...

South Bay 1/19
After hearing and seeing plenty of South SD bay stories from you all, I finally found a day to get my float tube down there. Went ahead and launched from J Street marina, and it wasn’t long before the action was on. Drifted all around, and worked my way north through the 2 main channels and found ...

Agua Hedionda 1/23
Hit the lagoon down the street this morning. Wanted to see how the Bixby would handle eel grass and maybe catch a couple fish. Bixby worked pretty well, but i did have to stop once to clear the prop (Old Town pedal drive needed at least 5 clearings every time in the lagoon). Love how the battery ...
