Had to smile reading this. Can't count the number of times I have cut the main line thinking it was the tag. Really annoying when it is a leader knot! And getting the lines wrapped around the rods... really bad in a tube when you cannot reach the rod tips! Braid is especially bad for that!
The one ...

The Captain was good to me! 5/7
Had an 11 bass morning today at El Capitan. All over 2 pounds with a couple over 3.
I was fishing a Texas rigged TRD Crawz, pitching it right to the bank and into the weeds then jigging it back out.

Re: 5/1-Tough morning/SD River
Believe me, it was two trips in one, my first and last. It was also the first time in over 30 years of tubing that it happened. The older I get, the more forgetful I am. Rather than a list now, it’s my wife, she’s a fishing machine and reminds me of everything I need to bring.

5/9-Couple of Firsts at Murray
A couple recent trips to Murray resulted in a handful of small bass(McFish would be proud
as I gave in and used drop-shot) and a couple of nicer fish on reaction baits.
Anyway, I just wanted to share a few firsts of the year with you as today's trip produced my
first topwater bass of the year. Saw ...

Re: 5/9-Couple of Firsts at Murray
Probably about eight years ago… I caught a smaller catfish on an underspin casting towards the end of the boat dock as I have caught bass there in the past. I was really surprised of how high up in the water that fish was. Always a little bit disappointing catching a catfish when you are bass ...

Re: 5/9-Couple of Firsts at Murray
Wow Vinny, what a great day. You were hitting them above and below. Did you get a weight on the cat?
What was crazy is I just wanted to try to lift it up for a picture and the dang thing was pretty heavy and I was just guessing around 12 pounds. It might’ve been 15 to 18 or? The scale was hard ...

Re: Shocking day at the D. K.
Ahh...the ever changing patterns of what works best to get the bass to bite each week.
Nice job of being flexible with what you throw as bass fishing at times can be very
as one week they like one bait and the next they pretty much ignore it.....especially
up at the Lake of D & K.
Thanks for ...

Re: 5/9-Couple of Firsts at Murray
That’s a nice cat! Caught a few of those on cranks at El Cap. Great fight but kind of disappointing after a minute or so when you realize it’s not a huge bass on the end of your line

Re: 5/9-Couple of Firsts at Murray
It was fun watching you fight that thing! You da man as always. I caught a couple of fours this week and later that same day I finally tied into a 6.5 pound bass too! The bigger fish seem to be hanging around more up shallow which is great for me in a tube.

Re: Shocking day at the D. K.
I believe theres some of us that truly enjoy showing up to a lake that hasn't been blown up on the internet. No live scope to find the fish for us. And fish and enjoy nature. Maybe you'll see a eagle .
If your at these lakes , and see theres
Lots of boats in the parking lot, and not many sdfish ...

Re: Shocking day at the D. K.
I haven’t fished Sutherland in a long time. I would love a crack at that place, I know some Pigs are hiding in there.
Yes, Catalina has several mystical Reservoirs. A full on logistical nightmare to fish them. I hiked until my legs were ready to fall off. Full overland trails that were more Bison ...

Big Rig Bass Fishing challenge( Video)
400 miles, 4 stops, 2 baits, 1 rig. As a truck driver that covers lots of miles, its great to be able to stop and explore new things. Last week, I decided to bring a set up as I often drive by areas that I could park the truck and fish but haven't. SO I decided to film it and make a challenge for ...

Cap float 5/12
Took the tubes out to Cap this morning. Mother’s Day had the lake pretty empty early! Only a couple of boat trailers and my brother and I in the tubes.
Immediately started throwing my favorite bladed bait around shallow brush. Got the most action where there was brush in the back of cuts and coves ...

Finally some time off from tournaments....
I finally got some time off from fishing these kayak tournaments up here in Northern California..... I was able to find and dial in a pretty speical bite on my now Home pond. Weightless 5" Shad color senko dead sticking on the tops of boulders. Tops of the boulders would be in about 20ft. I found a ...

Re: Good to be back to the V.
Good job. I was there a little over a week ago and had a nice Topwater session. Spooks, whoppers and frogs. Lost a DD bulldogged me deep after inhaling the spook - heart break. Fun times ahead
