4/15-Murray-Fishing deep session
Had some success in deeper water recently and especially on my last trip to Murray, so I decided to just fish deep and use reaction baits only. Despite the late start(looked like like rain this morning), I ventured out away from the shoreline even though it looked inviting. I searched for shad balls ...

Re: 4/15-Murray-Fishing deep session
Way to go! I have only had luck with the smaller spoons. i have some of the larger ones, no luck on the bass. I have had luck with them on Yellowtail when they are zoned in on smaller baits.
Nice work!

Re: 4/15-Murray-Fishing deep session
I just threw that bigger spoon on because I was working deep water for close to three hours and I just figured I’d try it for a while because I had nothing to lose. I really jazzed and lucky when a bass slammed it. When I got another bass on that bigger spoon, I realized that there is another option ...

Re: The Cap is producing quality!
Sounds like you have a lot of fun out there at El Cap.
Those are some very healthy bass and that BFS gear does it again.
You have been rocking with that gear at every lake.
Thanks for sharing and tight lines always buddy.

Re: 4/15-Murray-Fishing deep session
They do really well back East with the big Spoons because the Bass are actively feeding on Gizzard Shad and Skipjack. Out here, on a diet of Threadfin Shad we rarely get them on big spoons. In the Fall when the Threadfin are at their biggest the Swim Spoon bite can go off for numbers. As for jigging ...

El Cap 4/15
Another successful day on the lake today. Hit up the same spot as last week and the fish were still there but just not as many. Picked off a few there and then ran down the bank a little for a few more. I ended the day with 7 fish and my buddy got 3. Saw a bunch a guys catching schooled bass on ...

Re: El Cap 4/15
First of all, glad you’re safe from that scary experience. That must have been pretty wild and thanks for the insight just in case it ever happens to one of us.
Other than that… sounds like you had a really fun time out there. Looks like you have a good spot where the bass are on the chew. That pic ...

Biggest Bass of the year so far!! Lake Hodges
Spring Fishing Lake Hodges: The Biggest Bass Of The Year! So Far…
https://youtu.be/R94YP6_E-gE
Good morning all, I managed to get out on Lake Hodges last week and found the lake completely socked in by fog, which is not uncommon for that lake. Met up with Early Release at the launch was hoping to ...

Re: Biggest Bass of the year so far!! Lake Hodges
Not sure on the no nothing flats. But I have caught bass in “the desert” many times. I can tell you, where you caught that big one and caught a few more, I’d be on that spot for a long time and not move. It’s hard to stay in one spot when you have the opportunity to constantly be on the move but I ...

Hodges report April 20
Hello all,
Had a nice day at Hodges this morning. Met with Pourboy in the parking lot and we headed out a little after 0600. Water temp was a toasty 67 F and wind was calm. Immediately Pourboy hooked a nice fish on a spinnerbait, I think it was one of his first couple casts. Then I got lucky too ...

Re: Hodges report April 20
Great report, good job on all accounts. Action has been heating up on all our lakes, I hit El Cap and got into a good j/b bite yesterday, getting a limit, finally, while others reported good bite on spinners. Buzzers good early am. Keep up the good work.

4/21 afternoon sesh at Cap
Wrapped up the weekend in my favorite place, doing my favorite thing. Weather was absolutely gorgeous. Wind was pretty gnarly on and off for the whole afternoon.
Some observations:
water level is still going up. It had been about 10 days since my last visit and stuff I was standing on then is ...

Re: 4/21 afternoon sesh at Cap
Split shot is pretty snag free. Get either smooth ball or clam shots.
You can always peg an egg sinker if you’re worried about pinching the line. Bill Murphy had a great technique crimping the split shot on the tag end of your line then running it up and down the line to wear a smooth groove ...

Re: 4/21 afternoon sesh at Cap
I have been a fan of the mojo weights for split shoting. You can use a needed threader and your old silicone skirt strands for the stoppers. If they slide due to a hang-up, just slide it back into place. You can also change split shot length at anytime.

Most amazing thing at El Cap 4/22
Went to El Cap yesterday and caught 6, unfortunately they were all smallish clones but one thing happened that made the trip completely worthwhile.
I was out in my tube, when I found myself in a giant ball of shad. They were banging into my float tube, legs, and fins. Then, all of a sudden the ...

Re: Mo's amazing thing at El Cap 4/22
Belly Boat, have not heard them referred to as that in a while. Love it!
Sounds like the shad were spawning. When I have experienced this, there were eggs stuck all over the back of my boat and motor.
Good stuff!

Re: Most amazing thing at El Cap 4/22
You can legally dip net shad from any lake that has shad. You cannot snag or use a throw net for them though. A decade or so ago dip netting was big at San V on the huge schools of shad in Tollroad and Aquaduct.
You also cannot transport shad from one lake to another.

4/24 Murray-Deep again
Decided to head over to Murray mid morning and was the only boat launch. A lot can change since my last fish report from there
9 days ago, but I decided to stick to fishing deeper waters(20'-35') again. "It is crazy!" McFish told me recently . "This is time of the
