Re: giant bass pictures???

Funny VinnyBass same exact bait for my old profile pic...although I suspect a different body of water...

Full(er) story: I was throwing some spinners and other "noisy" baits and standing barefooted on a tulle stump and something tickled my foot...I looked down and it was a small crayfish...weird I ...

My biggest was at Sutherland on a silver Rat-L-Trap on 8/7/17. 7.95 lbs.

Old camera phone and no selfie stick. But his head is almost as big as mine. LOL

Re: A little El Cap action....

16 is a very good day IMHO @Mcfish Great to hear they're starting to bust. I haven't been to El Cap since early spring. I'll be hitting San V instead. Thanks for the report and hope to see you out there.

Damn I need to start fishing SD river!
There are, or at least WERE, some big bass in the SD River. This is my PB of 12lb 8oz from the Santee area way back when.

Wild ride at San V today

Hit up San V today for about a dozen cookie cutter 1lbrs plus a couple better fish. Two best went 2.6 and 3.1 both flippin deep bushes. Most of the rest came off various drop shot 6” Roboworms. Got driven off by the wakeboard boats about Noon. Fish were keyed on little 1” shad and breaking but ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today

I actually threw the bottom three baits yesterday. I can normally skitter/wake them around the books and get them to eat but not yesterday. I’ve got a handful of baits that I usually throw on the breakers with good luck but nothing worked for me yesterday 🤷🏻‍♂️

The baitfish kept trying to use my ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today

If you don’t mind flippin or finesse there are plenty of bites to be had. The reaction bite, at least for me, has been largely absent this year. Had a few good days at El Cap on chatterbaits and blades but usually El Cap is a crankbait lake for me and that bite just never showed up for me this year.

Dixon

Anyone been to Dixon recently? I was thinking of renting a boat and maybe getting some crawdads to use on Monday. Bass, catfish, and crappie are all good to me.

I actually spent a couple seasons back in the 80s, trolling shadraps with leadcore, mostly 35'-50' deep. I caught alot of nice fish, but it was just too boring for me. I just wasn't cut out ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today

I hear you. Bait that my JB scared up, from 10' away sometimes, was about 1/2' long. That was at Cap which I hit up for an afternoon session yesterday after getting some basal cell growth cut out of my chest earlier, been awhile. Tried top for a bit, mixed in with JB, nada. Saw a buster or two, but ...

Re: Dixon

I used to fish Dixon a lot and it was a good lake for 3-5 bass in a 2-3 hour session. I'd go early morning and walk the shore. But in the last few years there hasn't been a lot of activity at least what I have seen. Earlier this year I had a few times where dropshot worked ok. No topwater at all ...

The guys with forward facing sonar are chasing and catching schooling fish in open water in the dead of winter now.
