Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
Thanks for sharing @Hellavate. Every bass fisherman has their favorites. I agree with @camobass that a chocolate blue vein T-Rigged worm overall has been a winner for several decades. Lots of them have been made over the years(I really liked Tightline worms and of course the Delong Otay Specials ...

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
I'm throwing roboworms in Oxblood red flake, Aaron's magic and bitchin craw. Senkos are baby bass, green pumpkin and natural shad. All my jig trailers are the same versions of something green/brown from whatever came in a mystery tackle box.

A really good fisherman told me that he tries to match the color of the lake bottom.

So I need to find lakes with purple bottoms????
nope, all you need is green pumpkin...
Time to sell everything else....
Any good bass fisherman should always have that color worm in his arsenal as you ...

Ischial Callosity Reservoir is in Norcal.
The brown/blue stripe does seem to work all over...in my limited experience.

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
I remember back when guys would swear the fish were so dialed in they’d say “they’re only eating choc/blue vein with red flake. Regular chocolate blue won’t get bit”. I loved tight line worms. When I first started shore pounding as a kid, it was The Worm Store hand pours and Magic Worms

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
I'm thinking Vinny's garage has way more worms than the Worm Store ever had! Please do not look in my garage!
I do have a few of your favorite color worms laying around and when you completely run out of the few you
may have, I will be willing to maybe sell you a few for a nice reasonable price ...

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
I like the saying, K.I.S.S.
I usually have 3 tones and carry primary colors based on those.
Dark - Green Pumpkin
Baitfish - Natural Shad
Light - Morning Dawn
I'll carry a few profiles as well:
1. Stick
2. Straight Worm
3. Curly Tail
4. Baitfish
And fish them using a few methods:
1. Dropshot

Wiper Fishing
Tried my luck today for some wipers. Ended up catching 3 in a couple of hours of fishing. I had a night crawler on at the beginning that got smashed, thought it was huge catfish but ended up being a 30 inch carp. Ended up catching a lot more carp on the night crawler, but didn't catch any on the ...

IV Canal fishing( Video)
Sorry guys, I made this post last week in the wrong section. Anyways, I decided to throw it up again and say hello. Nice to know that this site exists as I was bummed when SDFish.com went away as it was a great tool for information and to connect with other anglers. ( I was Rescue ranger 905). Now ...

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
My favorite color Worm is not really a color. Black. Straight, no flakes, glitter, Curly tail. I mostly bought 8 inch and cut/melt the tip with matches, not a lighter, for length. Lighters leave a smell. Texas Rig, Wacky, wacky with a nail. My Dad showed me those techniques in the 60s. Funny how ...

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
Back in Eastern Waters, you can barely tell the mud from the water, those Chartreuse tipped baits are legend. Here in California most of our water is vastly clearer. I believe the clearer water demands a more natural color. Now people will say I caught one on an Orange worm or Jig with bright Green ...

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
So are these colors really the favorite of fish or of fishermen? I think a lot of colors (and even lures) are selected on the basis of "I would eat that if I was a fish" (a form of anthropomorphism).
FYI, bass only have red and green cones, they can't distinguish blue from black or at best, dark ...

Re: IV Canal fishing( Video)
Good stuff! My brother is visiting from Canada in a week and we are gonna be trying to find a spot on the Highline to fish, he’s a Smallie guy and has insisted we look for them while he’s here, who am I to argue?
