Fluke Bite at the Murr is Fire

I may as well repost Vinny’s from last week. Started the day catching a couple on drop shot in the fog. As soon as the fog lifted, I switched to fluke and it was on. Unlike Vinny, I stayed near the tules. Ended with 14. I missed at least that many (didn’t have the right fluke hooks with me). Most ...

Need help. Murray or San V?

Ok Boys, I need a bit of advice here. This coming Friday I’m going to be taking my wife, and hopefully daughter, out fishing. I have been fishing El Cap exclusively and the bite has been tough to say the least.

Between Lake Murray, San V, and El Cap I’m looking for the EASIEST fishing. Doesn’t ...

El Cap 10/12

Back at the Cap yesterday. Day started off on the wrong foot with a dead cranking battery. Ran back home and after an hour or so on the charger, headed back to see if I could salvage the day.

Tough sledding all day long but I was also trying to force feed them the swim jig and a crankbait. Got one ...

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?

The dinks at Murray are boiling and on the chew. This was the average size I was catching this morning

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?

I am hardly qualified to say, especially after fishing Barrett almost exclusively the last 5 months, but you sure do know the V well. I looked and the water has dropped since Easter, from about 90 to 70 percent capacity. Maybe some old familiar spots are showing now? You seem to have an El Cap ...

Yeah, got 25 that size there on Fri., in a half days work. Some 1 pounders but a couple even smaller. Blind casting a small popper, the Bevy by Lucky Craft, thanks to Dannicus giving me one at ...

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?

Then again, I got 15 the week before, after four hours of Nada working clear water at San V., working the mud lines. Chatter baits And jerk Baits.

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?

In my last report, I made a promise not to post anything from Lake Murray for 2 weeks. I figured people are tired of seeing my reports about the darn good fishing it has been and mostly tired of seeing my mug..ha ha
Well I have kept my promise. Today is the 14th day and although I am not fishing ...

Re: Need help. Murray or San V?

Whether they are busting a lot or not....the bass are still filling up on shad below the surface. Finding them is sometimes
the frustrating part, but if you find shad balls the bass are not far behind. When they are busting it does make it more exciting
and fun, but even on days where they are not ...

10/15-Lake Murray

I gave you guys a nice 14 day vacation from me posting reports from Lake Murray, but sorry, it's time to post again. I will try to keep it brief(ha ha... Mcfish knows that is not going to happen).
Hit Murray late morning and pulled in a small bass on a reaction bait waiting for any surface action ...

Thank you. That is a good point.
Just to share a comment from a guy on the old SDFish:

You seem like a nice guy, Vinny, but I don't think most folks reading your reports give a damn about all
you write and the other nonsense you put in ...

Re: 10/15-Lake Murray

Bite at Murray was slower this morning but still there. The larger bass are stuffed to the gills with shad.

San V 10/18 & 10/19

After some debate I headed to San V on Friday for the first time since Easter. I was shocked to see how far the water has come down since then. The waterfall in the back of Barona is high and dry by 30ft!

Immediately saw bass crashing the shad against the banks so I had high hopes for some top ...

Re: 10/17. That lake again

Jimbo said, nothing matters. 10lbrs bite 24/7-365 at Murray.

I always forget about that huge bass slayer. I guess because I never actually met him even though he said he was there
on days I was there fishing. One time he told me he would be wearing a red jacket and the coves near the baseball ...

10/20 High Hopes

Sunday after I was skunked at San Vee the day before I went to the fabled Murray Lake. Hoping there I could get the stink of skunk off by catching some of these dink busters. I got there and launched about 7 and went immediately to the center of lake . I noticed immediately that there were very few ...
