Re: Back to where I belong....

Mcfish Mondays is back!
Great to see you back at the V catching bass at your favorite Monday lake. Sounds like you had a great time and plenty of bass kept you busy. Thanks for sharing your adventures and hope to see more McFish Monday reports. Tight lines always

Re: 7/22-Finally able to fish again

The last time I fished was 14 days ago, which to me is a lifetime! Been pretty sick and took a while to recover(some weird stomach virus) and even lost 8 pounds. Finally able to start eating better and just when I was thinking of getting back out on the water, I suddenly found myself limping ...

Miramar morning jumpers

Hey guys, just went to Miramar on Tuesday. Second time fishing the lake I meant to get there early but Siri couldn’t give me the directions she kept coming up with Lake San Marcus. I kept saying lake Miramar, she kept coming back with Lake San Marcus so I was a half hour late, finally found the lake ...

Miramar Guide?

Hi all. I've enjoyed reading your posts as I get back into the sport ahead of retirement (and a nostalgic fishing trip to Ontario, Canada next month).

I'm really chomping at the bit to get out on the water as I live right on Lake Miramar. I was hoping that the concessions would open up and boat ...

Famine to Feast Otay 7/24

Well El Cap may have been a grind yesterday, but Otay was amazing today! I kinda lost count a little bit but my final total was somewhere between 50-60 bass and 1 Bluegill. Most of the bass were topwater with 15 or so coming as a combination of cranks, jerks and even a few worms.

It was awesome to ...

Re: 7/24-Back to Miramar for more!

Vinny you are my hero! I couldn't find a decent bite when I was there last. By the way, I met a guy fishing at Otay yesterday named Derek who said he set up your boat. He was throwing spoons and killing it. Made me think of you. Glad you are back out on the water where you belong!

Re: 7/24-Back to Miramar for more!

You sure did great, we only got 3 and that was tough, and as you say we stayed in the tules, that lake has the most tules I’ve seen it brought me back to the early days at Lake Otay in the tules. I’ve got to explore some deeper areas now that I’m back to fishing some.
Thanks for your report I ...

Re: Miramar Guide?

Hey Mike, Contrats on Retirement. I am right down the FWY from Miramar and I can take you out for a quick trip. Currently dealing with Covid 19 now so, it will be at least a week or so before getting back out on the water.

Aaaaaand... MURRAY 7/26

Got on the water a little after 5:00 am and landed 6 really nice topwater fish within the first 45 minutes. At that point I was thinking WhooHoo! Otay all over again. Then the sun came up and the bite turned off like someone flipped a proverbial switch.

I proceeded to basically circumnavigate the ...

Re: Aaaaaand... MURRAY 7/26

Nice job out there on your return to Murray. It must’ve been pretty exciting at the beginning, thinking it’s gonna be like Otay. Hopefully the fishing will pick up as the water raises higher. I was looking at the boat ramp the other day and again it’s still not high enough to launch a boat, but I ...

Re: Miramar Guide?

Hey Brian, Thanks for the response! Sorry to hear about the Covid. Hope the symptoms aren't too bad and you feel better soon!

I'll be heading out this weekend and will be traveling for most of the month of August (including the fishing trip), so will probably miss you this time around. Hoping to be ...

Re: Aaaaaand... MURRAY 7/26

Thanks for the ramp update. Murray is my second home lake (after Otay) and I've been missing it as a Friday option, although that has got me out to a couple of other lakes this summer.

7/29-Return to Murray

Been a long time(June 21) since I actually fished on the water at Murray. Besides being out sick and a few other ailments added to the fact they lowered the water where I could not launch my boat, it was nice to actually get back on the water this morning. Threw topwater baits and reaction baits on ...

Hodges July 31st

Not much to report from this mornings trip to Hodges. Landed a 2lber on a crankbait right off the bat around 5:30. A couple missed bites over the next hours but that was all. Called it a day at 9:00 when the sun came out.

7/31-More Fun...Murray

Months ago,I got a Jackall Gantarel Jr as part of a deal selling a rod and it has never touched the water. While waiting for my buddy Larry to launch his boat I made a few casts near the boat ramp and was surprised when a small bass slammed it. I was amazed a small bass would hit it and yet so ...

Otay gets it's revenge 7/31

I got on the water before sunrise with the excitement of the previous Wednesday still fresh in my veins. It was a foggy morning with nary a buster in sight. Never the less I was able to get 1 nice one to rise on my topwater Gunfish early. I stayed committed to topwater for an hour and a half but ...

Re: Smallmouth spots

Pyramid, Castaic....in fact, Castaic's smallie population has really exploded in the past few years. DVL has a few, but it's hard to target them. Big Bear also has a population as well as Arrowhead, if you have access to it.

I got into arrowhead once and it was definitely smallieville. Didn’t ...
