Concession closed. Used Iron ranger. Had a nice half day on the water today. Nice warm sunny Afternoon. Semi windless. Water 65. Fish on beds. Got some real nice top water action going. While leaving one of the Lake staff said that the lake may close on Saturday due to an algae bloom according to a ...

Re: Otay news concerning closing again.

Where are those quagga mussels when we need them? I thought they were supposed to suck up all the nutrients and algae.

Mussels are about as lazy as a creature can get.

Re: Otay news concerning closing again.

Closed....opened....closed again.

Why did they even open it back up in the first place if the bloom is so bad it requires another closing?

Re: Otay news concerning closing again.

What risk does an algae bloom pose that requires shutting down a lake?

Lawyers.

Little Timmy goes a'swimmin' off the dock and then dies after suckin' down some water, someone is going to be held liable.

Otay 3/2 (don't fear the algae)

After having been focused on El Cap the last couple of weekends, I decided to hit Otay this morning despite the algae warnings. With my January trip up there being a skunk my goal today was to get my first Otay bass of 2025. I met up with Dannicus at first light and that first Otay bass of 25 didn't ...

Back to Sulphur Creek, mid-week

Quick after work session at a local (to work) piece of urban water. They are starting to get more aggressive and not shy about choking down the stickbaits...can't remember having to use the pliers on more than the occasional fish...anyway...2 hours, 4 bites, 4 fish.

Re: 3/4- Deep and Shallow

With rain in the forecast the next 3 days, I decided to get a little fishing in this morning. Was trying to make a decision to fish mostly
shallow or maybe just deep.....so I fished both. I mixed it up in deep water with blades and spoons and despite not finding the huge
schools of shad like in ...

It's been a while

It's been a while since I last posted. Lol. I kind of forgot that this forum existed. Here are a few fish from the Santee Lakes recently The bass are beginning to move up shallow. There's lots of small males feeding up near the shoreline. I think I've caught 17 or 18 in the past couple of trips ...

Perris Skinner

The wife got a couple extra days off this week so we headed up to Menifee, my little aluminum boat trailing us. Tuesday afternoon shift at Perris where I did pretty good in the spring a year ago. Found out it was too early still, the water only got up to 55°. 10° cooler than where I was fishing Otay ...

San V Sat 3/9 Clone City

Boy what a difference a month makes! After getting blanked my last time out (not even a bite!), was hoping for better things this time out. Arrived about 6:30 to find out there was an ABA tournament there but it didn’t seem to have too many boats.

Water was 58 degrees when I launched and the ...
