Re: Miramar let me down

For years and years, Miramar has been a mystery as far as what the water level will be each week or two. It fluctuates so much that I used to go up there on a weekend just to check the water level so that I would not get a big surprise and not be able to launch my boat a few days later. Even just a ...

Re: Miramar let me down

Me too!!! I rolled into Miramar on Friday morning to see the water low, knowing that the ramp wouldn't be open. It wasn’t. So me and my buddy went to Murray and I managed 3 small keepers. But I checked the city website page for Miramar. Didn’t even say anything about the ramp being closed! Lame! I ...

Re: Miramar let me down

Years ago when I still fished in a club we held a tournament there. Launch was a piece of cake but when we went to pull out the water had fallen so drastically we had to drop the trailer tires off the bottom of the ramp in order to get our boats out! its crazy how fast the water there can fluctuate!

The grind at Cap

Have been visiting Cap a lot more recently with the bite at my other regular spots slowing down for me the past few weeks.

Made one trip in the tube, back on 11/1. Fished from open until 11AM and managed to find one bite out off the end of a long point in 25'+. Thought I'd find more that way but ...

Re: The grind at Cap

Thanks for the update! I've been out there the last 2 weeks also with mixed results. I'm a lot more familiar with the small rockpiles in other lakes and have been trying to hunt new ones as the water levels change. Keep on grinding.

Nice one buddy!
Shhhhhhh! You’re supposed to keep all trout plant news under wraps or otherwise @Mcfish may even come down here from Ramona and throw something bigger than 3 inches. :-)

San V. 11/14

Went to San V. The water is down to muscles now. Easy to cut your line as I did. I started top water pushed it for as long I can stand it for nothing. Still some busters happening, didn't want to chase them. Fished my normal haunts or I should say the area as my spots are out of the water. Found ...

Re: San V. 11/14

I also used to be shocked at guys fishing for bass that were using light line and tackle also until I started catching more fish on lighter line, especially on lakes that have very clear water. I have not got into the BFS yet, but using 6 pound fluoro every once in a while is at least a compromise ...

Re: San V. 11/14

I started bass fishing only using 6# test as I fished clear local ponds, that to this day are hammered by anglers. It wasn't until I started fishing lakes that were not as pressured that I started using 8, 10, 12 pound test, and got into 'power' fishing.

But sometimes, light line is the key.

Re: Lake Murray News 11/14

My local pond just got a trout stocking, and while there aren't too many bass that are big enough to eat trout, they're out there.

The funniest part is that all throughout the year, you have these big swimbait guys chucking their baits, talking about how many 'follows' they got that day. I've ...

Re: San V. 11/14

I use braid on my spinning reels. I change the leader size in different situations. Most of our lakes are high pressured.
I just got back from a vaca back east Ohio to Maine down to New York. So many lakes and rivers. There what they call ponds are bigger then anything we have.

People in other parts of the country call 12# line "light" or "finesse" for bass fishing. Crazy, I have caught tons of bass flippin' tules with 12 ...

Yeah, but don't you think if you're a self proclaimed "24/7/365 I ONLY FISH SWIMBAITS" person, you'd want to throw swimbaits right after a stock?

Apparently the allure of a truck trout is too much for these guys to put their broomsticks away for ...
