Yeah there were busters. I got a few but mostly small. Saw a couple of bigger fish surface but they ignored me

I got on the water at 5:30. In the summer months I am not dropping the kids off at school everyday, so I do get on the water earlier albeit less frequently. They'll be seniors next year, which is hard to believe.

Ended the morning with 9 fish total. All on jigs along drop offs, and frogs across the top of floating vegetation mats (of which there are plenty). I put a new seat in my float tube and man is it nice! Ergonomic and no more sliding down in the seat. Should have done it years ago.

Yep, specifically this one. But as you might imagine, I kinda had to abandon my beloved BFS gear to throw that frog lol.

A couple of years ago, I was baiting and waiting for trout with my twin boys. I watched a trout fisherman pull in an 11.2 bass on a light spinning rod. He was rainbow fishing with nightcrawlers.

Final count was 13 with three of them over 3 pounds, one over 4 pounds and the best was a 6.2 pounder.

All fish were courtesy of a jig. I tried throwing a walking bait numerous times and had only one bite which came unbuttoned. The topwater action never really got going that I saw.

Topwater was going OFF early on and I managed 7 fish - split between a Gunfish 80, and a little Nage swimbait. Lots of fun. Then at around 7:00 it's like someone rang the school bell, and the topwater playground cleared out completely. So I went to the bottom ...

I got them from Paramount outdoors on @Pourboy 's recommendation. He has a discount code on his "Beefshaman" YouTube channel. They didn't have the zippered ones in my size but that's ok. The ones I got are excellent quality and reasonably priced.

Fun froggy morning at Otay. Only 5 bass, but all over 3 lbs with the best going 3.76. also managed a few beefy bluegill trolling crank baits when changing froggin spots.

I'm impressed with the quality of the new Paramount waders. They seem really well made. Time will tell how many trips I make ...

Yeah honestly there is so much grass that a frog is really the only viable option, at least on those huge grass mats. I'm not complaining though. Frog blowups are a rush. I just have to learn to be more patient on hook sets. I missed a few by getting too excited and setting early lol
