Since I posted this story on the SD River, I was just curious if anyone has ventured out near the Old Mission Dam and caught any bass around
that area? I have net been down there for decades and just had to take a trip to look around. I did not walk around too much and the

Things were a grind today at the Murr. I fished for 6 hours, and located some large schools in 40+ feet of water. They were suspended 7-10 feet from the bottom. I dropped everything in my box on their heads with nary a nibble.

Finally I switched over to ultralight gear and managed to bring in 3 ...

2 hours fishing and 4 getting the green slime off the line and float tube.

I put in 7 hours of hard work yesterday...with only 4 bass landed, and 2 others lost in the trees. The water temp was 59 at sunrise, 61 by 1:00...and it definitely felt like winter at launch. A few years back myself and few SD buddies made the trip up North to fish this awesome lake. Guys, let me tell you..Clear Lake is a BASS factory!

Vinny, funny you mention "retiring" a bait. I was thinking I was alone in doing that, but after a lure has caught a lot of fish, I also retire them. The sad thing here, is that my retirees were in a box that has now been misplaced. I had planned to make a little shadow box of them for my office.

My son and I hit San V today for one last trip before he heads back to Montana. After the bust that Murray was Tuesday I was looking forward to San V today.

No busters to speak of except for the occasional single in the bushes. We ended the day with 9 combined. Very happy to say my boy out fished ...
