Re: Wild ride at San V today

The wakeboard boats have been insane out there this year. I really hate that they have the whole lake but insist on running right by the boats fishing. Sometimes not even a long cast away! Really irks me.

In July while my brother was here we were out on the V with a buddy, spot locked on a ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today

Forward facing sonar isn’t new, just for fresh. I disagree it’s taking technology too far. Go tuna fishing or walking big baits on pinnacles with and without one- Your opinion will drastically change. Haven’t got a chance to use one fresh but I watch that crappie fisherman in Oklahoma that now ...

Re: Wild ride at San V today

A few weeks back, I fished next to someone (starts with a V) who had FFS and I got smoked!! The fish were suspended around shad in 20'-35', and were rarely breaking, so I was pretty much blind to what was happening under the surface. I was in my tube and didn't have my 25 year old, $75 Lowrance fish ...

Thursday on the V...

I mixed it up a little this week, instead of my normal Monday trip, I hit San V on a Thursday. I grew up fishing the V on Thursdays, so it was kind of like old school days. I got there at sunrise and set out looking for busters! It looked grim after I checked my first 3 or 4 normal areas, but my ...

20lb braid with 8' of Pline Fluoroclear. The braid helps in throwing weightless baits.

Question on the setup McFish and others…my braid to fluoro (50 to 10) is hard to throw smaller baits as the braid seems to dig in to itself on the spool and I really have to wing it to get 80% of a ...

What line are you throwing at those schoolies?

Question on the setup McFish and others…my braid to fluoro (50 to 10) is hard to throw smaller baits as the braid seems to dig in to itself on the spool and I really have to wing it to get 80% of a mono cast. I assume you are using a spinning reel. Any thoughts on this? Use lighter braid ...

Re: Dixon

CKRZ,

As an Escondido resident, Lake Dixon has been my "home lake" for over 2-decades.
I am strictly a bass fisherman from shore and can only speak to this species.
I fish Dixon no less than once per week.
If you fish Dixon for bass, it's hard to beat a drop-shotted finesses worm rigged weedless ...

Re: 10/20 Murray

I can't believe you could even lift that monster! You must of been eating your Wheaties...or your strawberry crepes..Hahaha! After seeing your photo, I'm not sure that even I have baits small enough for those beasts! Keep those reports coming, but next time take a photo of the fish you catch..and ...

Monsta! Much bigger than the ones I haven't been catching. Guess you have to go fishing to catch fish.

Wed. at Otay

Fished sunrise to sunset, first time doing that in awhile, and first time to Otay in awhile too. Fog was sooooo pretty that I found it hard not to stop and make some art with my camera.

Not many folks out today. Warm and sunny after fog burned off. BIte was tough, as I'd heard, but got into some ...

PS Don't fish the point behind the spot with an X at dusk with a big topwater, you'll have a heart attack when she blows up on it, hopefully your's will stick, mine didn't. :D :D :D

Re: 10/20 Murray

All types of things been going on keeping me from fishing and recently had my boat serviced so went out for just a few hours mostly to test things yesterday. I have not fished Murray for a few weeks and since so just a quick report. There are schools of small bass chasing shad around the lake ...

Are you smarter than a fish?

Sometimes I am not.

Had a couple spinning rods with me and tied up a dropshot on the lightest rod to fish a tiny, shallow pool in Creek X.
Nyet.
The next spot had potential for bigger fish. And it is accessed from a bank about 3 feet above the creek.
At one point i cut off the dropshot sinker and ...

Maybe we’re going to get a lot of rain this winter and the city is preparing for it…. Yeah….that’s the reason…ha ha :-)
Yeah that will 100% be the city’s reasoning for it lol

Re: 10/24 - SD River(What the heck!)

Persistence pays off again for you. Also, I don’t get it. El Cap is only 37% full and yet they are releasing water.
