Re: These are the moments I fish for..
B61FE27C-14C5-429C-A4FA-ECC4C2CB1C38.jpeg This evening it was all about a couple of my fave JDM bluegill profile soft plastics on the free rig. Tons of little bluegill in the water up shallow and as soon as the sun got low they were smashing these baits. Nothing big tonight, bunch of clones ...

Re: 9/14- Return to the SD River
Hi VinnyBass
I totally took it that you had a great day and maybe even enjoyed the mystery of losing a bigger fish. I lost what must have been a monster earlier this year at Barrett on a deep diving crankbait, but for the few seconds that fish was peeling drag effortlessly (15lb mono), the ...

Re: Lake Poway?
From the website it looks like the rental boats have trolling motors...Maybe I'll give Hodges a rest and try it over there. Thanks for the tips.

Re: 9/14- Return to the SD River
Nice fish. Isn't it the best thing when you expected nothing or very little and you get surprised?
I had no bites and was just happy to be fishing, but after I lost my first two fish, I just figured at least I had a fish. When fishing is
tough, that is kind of a consolation prize...ha ha It ...

Re: Most fun and unusual baits for bass
Crawbaits and rats are kind of normal and you know you bought that crazy Cockatoo bait just for Minnesota...ha ha.
Actually I tried to think of some strange baits or usual baits I have used to catch bass and when I first used a Tokyo rig, it looked strange and never thought it would work until my ...

Re: Lake Poway?
Thanks to both of you for the advice. I gave it a shot today ($3 why not), but it was not epic. Got a late start, there by 10 am which may have led to what followed. I walked about half way around the lake casting a variety of soft plastics and even tried the frog a bit with only one strike on the ...

Re: Lake Poway?
Caught 2 more exactly the same, hit the dock for about an hour with the entire tackle box and went home with my tail between my legs. Not sure if I will go back, but the $24 boat and the $3 fishing ticket may lure me back (maybe I'll get my ass out of bed a bit earlier).
Keep going back, the ...

End of a tough year for Sutherland!
20230922_062845.jpg 20230922_074842.jpg They're putting Sutherland out of it's misery this Sunday, shutting it down for the winter. It's been a long strange trip out there this year! Good days were almost nonexistent. Just when you thought it was changing for the better..it wasn't! We were hoping ...

Did the water level ever come down enough to use the parking lot or is it still covered?

Would you guys post a picture of bass especially good 7-10lb bass if caught with live bait worst yet cut bait??? Last night a big 7-8lb bass hit my catfish rod with fresh cut bait while hunting for crappies. Unfortunately the bass swallowed the hook but luckily I used 4/0 hook and mouth is big ...

Re: End of a tough year for Sutherland!
The upper lot is now totally out of the water..lower lot completely covered by water. A big difference from 2 months ago when both lots were under water.professionull wrote: Sat Sep 23, 2023 12:29 pm Did the water level ever come down enough to use the parking lot or is it still covered?

Re: giant bass pictures???
Post it! Some of the biggest bass in the 60s-80s were caught with live or cut bait. Some were caught with trout power bait!

Re: giant bass pictures???
I personally have zero issues bait fishing. If you you wanna have a great day with a lot heavy fish. Stitch Dads.part of the fun is making the bait. There’s just as much technique involved as stitching a worm.

Some were caught with trout power bait!
I was fishing Elsinore a month ago a kid next to me had power bait, I told him it was better to use worms since there is no trout in the lake.
As soon as his power bait hit the water he caught a 2lb bass. I overheard his mom saying I was an idiot and ...

Re: End of a tough year for Sutherland!
I think this has been the toughest year in the past 15 at Sutherland. El Nino on the way and I'm sure the lake will look completely different come March.

Re: giant bass pictures???
Heck, post it. A pic of a nice bass is fun to look at. When you said "last night" I was wondering what lake is open at night...ha ha
Guessing bigger bass bite better at night?
Ninja fishing, maybe🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Just a sample of night bass but not this one because I was busy getting the hook out and let ...

I'll use those right before I consider hand grenades! I not sure the problem was what they wanted to eat, but rather where they went to eat it!

Desert adventures 9/24
With my favorite local body of water holding a two day tourney for the weekend I decided to change up the routine and forego my normal Sunday AM trip in favor of hitting the desert canals.
Day started off great with my first Smallie catch ever on a crankbait. Got two dink largies on the same crank ...
