7/22 Tubin
I fished top water first around 5 am just barley able to see the sticks. Not getting the love on the little walking bait, so the whopper plopper did the job. They were all over it. One hit it loaded up set the hook as it jumped WP came flying out and stuck in my bare foot. Look down 1 hook buried ...

7/30 Tubin again
Nice they didn't sell boat tickets. Early ready for the top water like last times and nothing. Well I got 1. Water is down another foot from last week. I was wondering if this was going to be a day I don't hit the Barrett goal. I finally found some bitters on DS, jig and split shot rig 15 to 25'. I ...

New Barrett PB 8-10
Just wanted to share a pic of a Barrett beauty caught today and PB by the way. Started at 4:40am fishing with my nephew. Ended the day with well over 50 between both of us. All clones 2-3 lb range and many dinks. All on DS, nedrig, small swim baits and occasional senko.

Morning Jig Time Again 8-16
Felt our way out to mid-Hauser in the dark today. Started getting bites on the green pumpkin jig n craws and stayed mostly on that til wrapping it up at 10:30 with 31 for me and a best of 3.2lbs. Didn’t see any busters and tried to stay between 10-20ft deep. The minnow and reapers added a few more ...

8/20 Left them biting
Early in and on the water in the dark. breezy no top water hook ups, would throw on missing for the bite. Fishing was pretty much like last trip. Picking them up on DS, TR and split shotting. Moved around looking for new places. Went to the dock fish were busting on the deep end on small bait. Hit ...

Personal best (Sunday 8/31)
On the water with my two boys and a boat ticket just before 7am. Our confidence spots were not hitting as hard as they have been over the past few weeks. Stayed in the main lake until we picked up a buddy at 9am. I focused on various top water approaches — flukes and small poppers produced the best ...

Re: Personal best (Sunday 8/31)
Awesome report and day Shawn! My buddy Dan was on that exact ned rig/DT hula jig combo. We call those plastics spacemen from their funny look but the bass gobble them down! And osprey are bad ass birds!! Great pics.

Re: Personal best (Sunday 8/31)
Congrats on a great day. You would have shared 31 with the others if you weren't solo! The wild life is always a bonus.

Re: Personal best (Sunday 8/31)
Really enjoyed your report and those were some great photos. Lots of bass must have been
so much fun with the boys. Love that pic with you holding up the big one!
That DT Hula grub has been a plus for me also with a 7lb'er recently at Mur.
Thanks for sharing and tight lines always. :-)
Thanks ...

9/10 Late to the party
I woke up at 2:15 my usual time to head to Barrett. Body said nope and went back to sleep and woke up at 6 ready to go. When I arrived I saw Shawn and Theo heading out. The weather was nice no big winds and not to hot. Not being dark missed that fishing fun. Not many rollers then none. No topwater ...

9/20 Big B report
Three trips to Barrett this year totaled about 250 LMB for me and Max. A little tougher today as we landed about 60 including a four pounder and a three pounder. Most of the fish though were what we affectionately call jumbo dinks. Tried topwater in the morning to no avail. We got most of our fish ...

BFS forum
Hey guys, I was the one that requested BFS be added as a forum topic. Thanks admins and thanks to @VinnyBass for facilitating the topic add! I figured this would be a great place to share our rigs/setups, gear, baits and techniques. I look forward to seeing what you all are using.

Otay baits 4/20
6 total bass today at Otay, and five of them were courtesy of this:

It's a Diawa 3" TD Minnow, and it has definitely become my #1 jerkbait for BFS fishing. It has great action and casts a country mile. Most fish hit a twitch twitch pause retrieve, while two hit it on ...

The Murray Juice 10/9
Here is a picture of the bait that did most of the damage at Murray yesterday.
It's a Rapala Crush City Ned BLT on a 1/0 EWG hook. The weight is a Nako skirted 1/8 oz.
I like to focus on rocky areas with it, but it's lightweight, and extremely weedless. You can work it over and through grass and ...

Re: Mono County Fishing Information 🐟
So...
I will be doing a lot of day hikes around mammoth. At least one day on the San Joaquin.
Any of you mugs have any recommendations for day trips near Mammoth that don't involve a long drive to the trailhead?
I like throwing little lures in little creeks to catch little fish. Kinda like here ...

Furries and Bass, Just Another Pond Sesh
It was around 5:30 a.m. when The Gooch — yes, that’s what we call him, don’t ask — woke me up.
"It’s five in the morning, David. You better be in jail, or caught a 12#."
"Neither! Your buddy Jose just caught a four-pounder on that Megabass Karashi you keep threatening to throw but never do ...

Loved the marginalized comment.
You know, the sad part is that I'm sure those circus clowns don't know half a thing about Manzanar.

Piru: The Lake That Gets No Love (But Gives It Anyway)
Let’s be real—when people talk about the "Big Three" lakes around here, Piru Lake is definitely the red-headed stepchild. Castaic? That place is a legend. Back in the '90s, when I was still learning the difference between a spinnerbait and a spoon, my dad and I would roll up with all the colors of ...
