Yes, it is expensive. Just remember there are used ones that you can haggle. My buddy got a 2019 PA 14 for $1700 with everything only 2 light scratches we found. People impulse buy and find out its not for them, and fire sale things off. Just have to be ready.

I have a PA 12. wide, stable, and easy to get moving on the water. It's a mother getting it to and from the water though....lol. I only bring the basics with me as to keep the weight down. Careful, those PA rod holders can cut your line or nic it. Mine did any way. No way of getting to the rough spots without completely destroying the tubing.
