Re: Murray dinks and clones 6/30

Fished here this afternoon for the 1st time ever. Miramar gate was closed. 1st Tuesday. Had to audible, Murray it was.
No idea where was good, just got out and hit the cove across the way from the launch ramp. I seen some 4/5# cruising but they ignored or scared away from baits. Pretty tough go ...

Re: Murray shore fishing 6-26

All I’m doing is fishing buddy 🎣🎣🎣

Robert,
Just a friendly word of advice: Go out and have fun always, but you need to keep things low key,.
In other words you should not be posting pics of fish caught when the lake is closed . Many have done it but don't advertise doing it especially on a ...

7/3-Murray again....

Got to Murray around 7:30 am, which is a pretty late start but still managed to have fun picking up some on top. Nothing real big but always fun to watch them hit your bait on top of the water. Bass are feeding on shad all over and it has been a challenge at times even throwing right onto boils and ...

Re: 7/3-Murray again....

I've caught that red spotted jaw fish before too. Wierd.

That is weird....but that distinct mark gives him away. I guess when he's released he goes back down where other bass see him and probably
say...."Wow that guy is tough to not only escape capture, but even death…he must have nine fish ...

Dannicus wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 11:14 am Doing much better than me. I all I've been getting are 2 pounds or less. Lots of them, but still .
On Tuesday and Friday probably 98% of my bass caught were 2 lbs or less, so you are not alone.

Re: Fireworks going off...in the A.M.

Wow!….Great job out there!
Morning fireworks when it involves pulling
in lots of bass sound a like a blast. Glad
you decided to take a chance and fish on
a day(holiday)that many guys don’t.
It must’ve been pretty quiet on the lake with you and @Fisheromen catching bass with me 38 miles away ha ha ...

Re: Otay 7/5

They sure like those smaller topwater baits. I have recently bought a few and I think they are closer to the hatch of what size the shad are and what the bass are eating. Thanks for sharing and nice to have you back here at home catching bass here.
Tight lines always. :-)

7/8- Miramar Rocks!

Haven't been up to Miramar since the middle of June and had a fun time that day so decided to take my kayak back up there and see what's happening. Kind of bummed as was no surface action except for an occasional splash out in the distance. So after a number or useless casts with topwater baits, I ...

Re: 7/8- Miramar Rocks!

You’ve said before you use straight braid most times was this straight braid or short leader?
Great job either way.
You’re the man no matter what McFish says about you, just kidding HaHa 🤣

Actually because the water at Miramar is so clear, I only brought a few rods with mono.
(6 & 8lb test) If ...

When the fish are heavier, for some reason, I hold things tighter….. ha ha
Besides, I give you the honest weight. I’m not the guy who lies about the weight no matter how
big they look in a picture. No respect for guys who do that.

Re: 7/8- Miramar Rocks!

Must be something in the water. The panfish I catch there are the hardest fighting panfish I catch from any lake. Almost to much fish for my 1wt rods.

I honestly think that because the lake is not fished much, the fish are not used to getting hooked. Sounds crazy, but Miramar seems to be more ...

Re: Kayak seat cushion recs?!

Anyone have good things to say about the kayak seat cushions you use? Brand and why? I have a Hobie Lynx so anyone with a Lynx seat please throw some recs at me please!

There most likely will be better ideas out there for you, but here is my 2 cents:
I fish a lot in my Hobie PA 12, I just went ...

7/14-Starting to warm up

It seems that the bass that are jumping at Murray are mainly focusing on eating shad 99.9% of the time and not many artificial offerings. Even throwing into busting bass, they are still focused on the live shad so it does feel good to fool at least some of them finicky little guys with a hard bait ...

7/16- SD River "Oh Yeah"

Haven't fished the SD river since June 23 and figured I would do a quick morning session and take off before it gets too hot.
So much for early start as I finally got there around 7:15. In my past reports you will see that I do not get a lot of bites
down there. So when I miss a bite or a bass ...

Can’t go wrong with the brush hog.

The lure of the past comes back to life. Heck I had about a hundred of the buggers(probably more) in my garage that haven't touched water since the 80's...ha ha. Now the Junebug colored ones I started buying last year as they often produced bass but not always ...
