Lake Murray April 5, 2023
Murray bass .jpg The cold weather and water level fluctuating up and down has not helped the bass fishing at Lake Murray. It has been a tough bite with smaller fish as a reward after a lot of hard work recently. Good news as the action should be picking up now that we may be in for some warmer ...

A spring day on San V...not!
I got to the lake at 6:15, under dark, cold, cloudy, drizzly skies..which pretty much remained that way for the next 6 hours!! The lake seems about a month behind with the unseasonably cold spring we're having! I ended the day with 14 fish, mostly small males which I hadn't planned on fishing for ...

Re: A spring day on San V...not!
Happy to see SDfish lives on! I was there this past Thursday in the wind and rain and the bite was great. My buddy and I had 35 fish on drop shots and jerkbaits in the 10-20ft range. Best quality was on the 6” Pro Green Pumpkin Roboworm with lots of 2-3lbers and a 6lb kicker. Think the weather had ...

Murray: Kayak or Boat=Same results
Hit Murray in my kayak yesterday morning(4/19) and then again this morning(4/20) only this time in my boat. There has to be some casting advantage especially in a boat being higher above the water(not related to 4/20 high..ha ha) but there really wasn't any.
Anyway, basically the same results ...

DVL 4/19 (Video)
Took the tin can out to DVL for the first time on Wednesday. Fish were just starting to move up shallow. Saw a lot of big fish cruising the bank but they were uninterested in what I was throwing. I was able to get into 9 quality fish in the 2-5lb range off beds. Key was light line and Ned Jigs/ Drop ...

Otay 4/22, San V 4/23
I launched my kayak at Otay for the evening bite. It was slow fishing, however managed to a catch few dinks. Water is the highest I’ve ever seen it at. Most fish caught shallow and tight to structure. Water temps on the colder side.

Re: Murray 4/26-Mixed it up
Hit Murray this morning(like you guys did not see that coming...ha ha) and it was cool and overcast. I heard of a few topwater stirrings from my buddy Larry who wrangled in some recent topwater bass, so I was ready. It is still a little early for topwater and should be going off a lot better as we ...

Still tough out on Lake Donald and Kiefer..
I got to the lake at sunrise, expecting to see the regulars out on the water already...but no, I was alone. That tells you how tough the fishing is and the high water has made launching and parking a real challenge. I keep expecting the lake to go off every week, but it's still not happening! I ...

San V 4/30 report
Got to the lake early, almost empty, which was a big surprise to me. Paddled out and immediately got a treat over by the big water inlet. Of course that anchored me to that spot for another fruitless 45 minutes. But moved along the shoreline and out to the island and got many takers. All on dropshot ...

Slow start to shore pounding bass
This year has been a bit slower with the bass bite from shore. I get into a decent fish here and there, but the bite has been very slow. The minute you skip a week you may miss out.

Sweetnshore last week
Fished the sweets a couple of times last week just to get some fishin in. Not a constant wide open bite with the bites coming every so often mostly due to the fact I was using heavier gear. That overgrown brush due to the water being higher eats the light line stuff and snags easy.

Donald and Keiffer stirring
Well for the first few hours it seemed like bad business as usual at the old lake. Just cold and rainy! The game plan was to throw a buzz bait through flooded brush. If that failed, a spinnerbait through flooded brush. I just knew they had to be in flooded brush! Well, if they were, they were not ...
