San V Monday chow time...

20230605_092419.jpg June gloom..just what the fish ordered! Water temp 70-73, air temp not that nice! A stiff breeze blowing most of the day. I got on a solid pattern right from the start, working a dropshot in 15'-20', off steeper banks with rocks! I brought 23 fish to the boat, not counting a few ...

6/8 Murray

My buddy Joe joined me again this morning in hopes of another topwater bonanza like we had in May(boating 21 bass). Only this time with little to no topwater action at all. As the water glassed off, I thought to myself......is this a lake or an oil painting? ha ha. I mean there was a random bass ...

6/14 SD River-AM Session

Guys who forgot that Otay is closed the second Wednesday of the month like clockwork usually end up this day at Murray. I thought to myself, I could fish Murray this morning and post a report(like you guys haven't seen them before...ha ha), but decided to venture out to the SD River for a few hours ...

6/20-Murray, Me and McFish?

As I arrived at Murray, a guy towing a bass boat was leaving as there was no way to launch a bass boat now as the water level to the end of the boat ramp is now just a few feet. I started to unload my kayak quickly and low and behold who pulls up right behind me....@McFish. I told him the lake was ...

6/22 Shrinking Murray AM Session

I wanted to fish Murray this morning even though the water level is down to inches from where the boat ramp ends. I figured this may
be my last trip for a bit until the water rises again so I carefully guided my kayak just over the rocks and headed out
in search of shad balls and bass. There are a ...

What it’s all about.

Some of you guys have known me and my family for a while. We ALL fish. Well, we’ve been teaching my youngest (Isabella) how to use a proper spinning setup for the last year. She’s 6yrs mind you. She’s now become sufficient enough to cast, reel on her own. Just the basic worm set up. Mostly just ...

On the Water Again-Murray 7/21

Murray is coming up a few feet a day as I have been over checking it here and there and decided yesterday to give it a go. So this morning I dusted off the cobwebs on my kayak and was just able to launch it from the bottom of the boat ramp at Murray. Still quite a ways off before a boat can launch ...

Re: Most fun and unusual baits for bass

Crawbaits and rats are kind of normal and you know you bought that crazy Cockatoo bait just for Minnesota...ha ha.
Actually I tried to think of some strange baits or usual baits I have used to catch bass and when I first used a Tokyo rig, it looked strange and never thought it would work until my ...

Re: Most fun and unusual baits for bass

Rat for sure. The unusual lure that comes to mind is the deps sonar. It’s a swim bait that’s jointed but the rubber skin around it makes the joint less flexible and the tying point is dead center on the side. It literally moves like a forward scanning sonar. I’ve caught a quite a few fish on it but ...

Re: Most fun and unusual baits for bass

Two weeks ago I was at Barrett and saw a dead rabbit in the water. I realized why the big rat lures work right there.

But for me, consistently this crazy crawler is the strangest thing I use ( and variants ) and every week I get some fish to claim it.

Re: Most fun and unusual baits for bass

My wife caught one just over 4 before Loveland was destroyed and it spit up a biiig pack rat on the last jump.

I also saw a juvenile duck big enough to be on its own get pulled down at otay. It was “screaming” doing everything it could to get away. Fish finally let it go and it went to shore. I ...

Re: Most fun and unusual baits for bass

The pompadour has worked great. I have a couple small snakes that I've yet to catch a fish with but I haven’t used them that much yet. Soooo many lures and so little time (only eight hours per trip twice a week). 😎

Besides, the Buzzbait and the boottail fluke, and the popper are working so well ...
