Barrett Bonanza June 21 Report
Max and I teamed up yesterday for another fun day at the Big B. After about ten hours of fishing we hit our goal of 80 fish not including about fifteen dinks. I did most of my damage on the brush hog while the versatile Max got them on a variety of baits. He also introduced me to the neko rig that ...

Re: Barrett Bonanza June 21 Report
Looks like a good day. I have been asking about the shad, 4 trips no shad.
There are some there and if you find any, bass will be feeding. Especially on the surface. But there does seem to be less and maybe skinnier fish. Unless they are just spawned out and have yet to gain back weight. Some ...

Re: Barrett Bonanza June 21 Report
Predator-prey cycles are well known. It would take a huge amount of shad to keep the bass in the lake well fed, that would not be practical.
When the bass are over populated, the shad population will crash followed by a crash in the bass population. Then the shad population will increase followed ...

Barrett Lake June 25th report
Got out in the dark with Chuck and Steve around 0430. Air was chilly at 55F, but water had cooled a bit to 71F. Chuck went along our usual path and did quite well, I'll leave those details to him. I went to Wilson's creek and along that shoreline, throwing the rat in hopes of a nice large surprise ...

Re: Barrett Lake June 25th report
Hey Dave, I was going along the bank and talked with a guy who was using his FF sonar, he saw several bait balls and we did play around with some surface fish there, but they were the 10-12 inch variety. I went further back in Pine and did turn on my Panoptix and saw bait balls in 28 feet of water ...

Getting Jiggy at Barrett!
Another extra special Barrett day, especially on the jig! Pics of the main weapons below but it was almost impossible to get off the jig. Lots of doubles and steady action. All in Hauser today got 49 on the jig, 10 on the minnow mostly crisscrossing the arm but also dragging along banks, then two T ...

Quick 6/29 report
Spoiler alert — the fishing is good!
My son and I arrived late (~10:30) and closed the place down as usual. In contrast to last weekend when we were catching most of our quality fish along rocky shorelines, Sunday was all about finding them in the stick ups. I beat Theo 34/31, but he scored the ...

Bobcats, Ospreys, and Deer…and Bass!!
Had a little bit of everything out at the Big B this morning. Watched a bobby sleuthing along near vertical rocks looking for prey, man their paws grip good! Then along with Early Release Dave and Pourboy Chris watched a hungry osprey attacking unsuspecting bass too lazy on the surface, not once ...

Went to Barrett Saturday morning and they had all the roads closed barricades everywhere so I went back down to see other cars that had kayaks and I asked them what they were going to do, they said they had a plan and I could tag along. Well they got us thru and thanks guys for that! We were the ...

Wind Blown Quickie 7-13
Got a quick session in before the wind came up. A seemingly slower day from perhaps a combination of a drop of at least a foot in the lake, some new green turbidity, and about a 91% full moon overnight. Anyway it only had flashes of the hot bite as opposed to the all out variety the last month or ...
