Re: Why post fake reports?

I love the dudes that are like, "I caught 124 and a half," as if they literally counted each one. :-D

But who's posting fake reports?

Re: Why post fake reports?

Another one (youtube) went up after this weekend. Maybe time for the admins to step in. The group here is looking for helpful intel, not videos begging for views or bragging stories.

Re: Why post fake reports?

I try to post a report every time I go to Barrett. I do it, just to share the information with a bunch of people who I have gotten to know through this site and when I do, I hope it is helpful to others. Those people who see me on the water, know that I'll share what's working, if I have a pattern ...

Re: Why post fake reports?

It seems like this post has gotten on a fish-count track, all well and fine, but I think it started due to old catch pics being included or even other lakes. Then yesterday a video was posted as this weekend and the lake was obviously higher than it is this year. The road down to the dock, parking ...

Re: Why post fake reports?

Although I did not have the pleasure of fishing the opener,I can honestly say that an above average angler can boat 100 in a whole day. I’m talking 6am-6pm. If you kept throwing jigs and plastics the possibility was there. No matter how good the bite is, there’s always that late morning to early ...

Re: Why post fake reports?

Ok, time to come clean! That time when I reported that I caught 4 bass on the old site... I may have lost count!

Let it go!

Do you count your fish?

Maybe an odd question, but do you count your fish? If so, why?

I primarily fish with my 9-year-old son Theo, and like a lot of you, we’ve made a habit of counting how many fish we catch. It started simply enough — it’s not hard to remember 4 fish days —but as we’ve improved, I’m happy to say that ...

Re: Do you count your fish?

Yup all the time, it’s part of the fun and it’s not about beating the others on my boat but rather doing for our own personal bests. Nothing like hearing our separate clickers going off.

Re: Do you count your fish?

On any given day, on any lake, I’m keeping track. As far as what constitutes a catch, that’s always been the same no matter the location. Have to touch it. Doesn’t mean lipping it, just gotta touch it before it got off if that happens. That being said, I totally agree with pretty much everything ...

Re: Do you count your fish?

We definitely count in our crew. Each one of us is extremely competitive whether on the lake, bay, or ocean. I don’t think it takes away from anything, its just who we are. I also think it forces us to adapt quickly to stay in the game. Its rare that the lures tied on the night before aren’t changed ...

Re: Do you count your fish?

Thanks for the feedback guys! I’m going to approach as mini-competition count days, and other days when I want to explore new areas and new techniques not worrying about fish counts. I think there is definitely fun to be had with both approaches.

Re: Do you count your fish?

Everyone that fishes Barrett was drawn to it for the possibility of catching “100 fish in a day”. If you don’t count, how will you know if you achieved that magic number? I do it for fun just to see if I could beat my personal best. Numbers as well as weight.

Re: Barrett Shad

I did post a picture of some freshly made shad recently. I found 3 separate groups in the shallows, all very tiny, but good size schools.

Re: Do you count your fish?

You don't have to be competing to count fish. I like knowing how many I catch in any situation. I will often fish new lures or techniques regardless of the count just to see what works since that is how one gets better. And I count fish no matter whether I am fishing with others or alone. But you ...

Re: What type of float tubes are allowed?

Depends on who "they" is. Never heard of the lake authorities caring. Some fishermen frown on anyone, especially the ones doing better than they are.

They’ll hump on the side of your boat, your kayak, your tube, your legs and fins. Pretty much anywhere they feel like it!

Are you using P-line Tactical?

Bassin fron the bank!( video)

Myself and a old friend managed to hit Barrett this weekend...but only for around 4 hours from the bank. Still super fun. Ended with around 25 between us mostly on Flukes, Ikas and texes rigged Robo's. The lake never disappoints.
