Re: San V. 11/14
I always laugh when people in the midwest, and the south talk about how pressured their lakes are. Our biggest lakes around here, I'll include DVL in there are still less than half of one of their arms in their lakes! Id love to see how they would like to fish our little puddles.

Pretty slow week at the Murr
Well wintertime and things have slowed way down at Murray. I've managed to avoid the skunk so far by the skin of my teeth. All I've been able to get have been a few clones on jigs in 15-20 feet of water. Most of the bass seem scattered and deep.
Still, I was able to pull in a few nice little slab ...

12/9-Murray
Geez....where are the bass posts?.....I guess nobody is bass fishing anymore...ha ha.
I decided to venture over to Murray this morning despite hearing how tough and bad the bite been by more than a few guys I know and various guys coming off the lake recently. I figured what a perfect time to toss ...

Success at Otay!!!
https://youtu.be/FSARziSc2ak
Thanks all for the recommendations on where to fish on Sunday. I did end up going to Otay and met Corsoenthusiast (SP?) out there. Shortly after the sun came up we and about 30 of our closest boats, tubes, yaks and shore guys were on the fish. It seemed that everyone ...

Otay 12/22
5 bass today at Otay. 4 of them were 1.5 to 3 lb clones and the largest went 5.4 lbs. All of them were on a chatterbait. I went to Otay arm to try hover strolling but there was really nothing going on there. None of the boats, yaks, or tubes reporting much success so I started working deeper ...

Amazing Murray Story 12/27
I got on the lake just after the gates opened and had basically circumnavigated it by 10 am. I caught a few of the usual clones and bluegill and decided to head back to the launch ramp to warm up a bit and relieve myself (because I suspect peeing one's waders is ill advised).
As I approached the ...

Last fish of 2024
3 poundish fish, at El Cap on a crankbait. Was fan casting with a 12-15 foot diver as I was kicking to the first spot and she smashed it on the second cast. Couldn’t make a pattern out of it. The water is so low right now that to get into any depth in the front of the lake you’re out in the middle ...

The one that got away 1/9
Those who know me are probably aware that I have never caught a double digit bass. Oh I've flirted with it, with my PB being a 9.8, but nope, after 41 years of SCAL bass fishing, I've never managed to pull that one off. In 2024 my best was an 8 pounder at Hodges. I caught a bunch over five with a ...

Re: The one that got away 1/9
Haha yeah it was honestly a lot of fun and exciting. I'm not really too upset, just wish I could have got a picture lol. It was a lot of fish on really pretty light line. What amazed me the most to tell the truth was that the rod and leader broke before I straightened the hook in that tiny 1/8 oz ...

Skunked but....Otay 2/2
Fished all morning at Otay but couldn't wash off the skunk stink. Still I had an awesome time... Why?
Spent the morning with @Early release ,@Pourboy , and @CorsoEnthusiast . The great company made the whole trip worthwhile to be sure!

Murray
Fishing is still somewhat tough at Murray but it seems to be changing for the better.
Set out this afternoon to get some practice in with the cheater box and found some scattered schools at 30-40 feet.
Still getting the hang of the livescope but its already proved its value in the few trips I've ...

San V 2/1 Guess I forgot how to fish
Hit up San V for my first trip out of the new year. Got a late start. Hit the water at about 10 and fished until 2. Well Hell, I never got a single bite  I started in Toll Road hitting both the backs of the coves and the points out to 50+ft. Saw some 2-3lb cruisers in the backs but they were ...

2/3-SD River.....Not good
Another day of avoiding Murray, I found myself down at the SD river this morning. The weather was cold, then got unusually warm, which I thought was not a good sign but at least I am out fishing.

Murray 2/4 The Redemption Tour?
I got on the lake at 8 am with trepid hope in my heart, tied a little 2" crankbait on my BFS combo and kicked out with a silent humble prayer to the fishing gods. About 20 minutes in I felt a bump and low and behold...A FISH! I have to tell you I got far too excited over a panfish, but after the ...

2/5-Mixing it up Deep at Murray
"Blades, Ice Jigs & Spoons..oh my!" was the theme today at Murray. Decided to give it a go after some inspiration by yesterdays post by Dannicus. Fumbling around at home I did not get on the water till around 8:45.I tossed a few swim baits near the ramp and shoreline but it already started to warm ...

Re: 2/5-Mixing it up Deep at Murray
I can't shake the image of Vinny sitting on his Ranger in the middle of Lindo lake staring at his FFS vertical jigging for bullheads and sunfish.

85° and all is well
Chuck ( 619bassin ) and I hit lake Baccarac in Mexico for the last few days. We had fished the lake together four years ago and had a blast back then.

El Capitan Feb 8 report
Hello all,
Well I always say a plan is a list of things that won't happen. Was thinking about going to Hodges but on the way, went to El Cap instead. It's a commitment, because it's an hour away versus 10 minutes.
It was a good move. Got out at about 0700, and the water was 54F with a light wind ...

2/10-Murray again
With rain in the forecast and things I need to do around the house, I figured I better get some fishing in today otherwise I will have to wait till next week. Chatted with Dannicus in the parking lot before launching and told him I want to try some different baits in deep water today. Then it was ...
