Re: Lake O'Neill (Camp Pendleton)

I remember when I was doing some handrails at the Naval hospital close to that lake and I would fish it before work (found out later I wasn’t suppose to) and I have success throwing the spook on the edges of the lily pads, that’s right I said lily pads. Biggest I caught was only three pounds but I ...

10/8 Murray...oh yeah!

Hit Murray with my buddy Joe this morning. The surface was basically dead as did not see any busters so it was soon worm time. Using a variety of worms, creature baits, flukes. etc., we picked up some clones here as there as it was a little later morning bite. Missed a few bites comes along with the ...

San V Thu 10/9

Finally got the ok to go back out in the sun as long as I had sun coverage and sunscreen. Followed Drs orders and headed out to San V today with sunscreen, a sun gaiter and hat.

Lake is super low and 20+ foot visibility. Decided to fish areas that were out of my usual rotation. Started the day ...

Murray 10/9

Had a pretty good day at Murray finally. I got tired of 4-5 fish days, so I decided to go back to the BFS basics that I know work day in and day out. Final count was 18 all in the 1-2 pound range (as Vinny would call them, clones), so definitely a quantity over quality day. Still they were all ...

Re: Local pond always a confidence builder

Nice catch! I pretend to be a freshwater guy every once in a while, and the local ponds are a confidence killer for me haha. I may have to keep my freshwater fishing confined to Spring, or Lake Barrett haha

Murray 11/4

Fun day at the Murr today. Nothing big, but final count was 9. They seemed really pissed off today, fighting like crazy on my BFS gear, so even without that DD it was still a lot of fun.

Nov 12-Quick River trip

Was on vacation and between doing lots around the house have not been fishing much. Yeah caught some dinks the week before last at Murray, but nothing to get too excited about. Since I haven't posted for a while, I decided to post a quick report from fishing the SD River this morning. The water has ...

Nov- Murray & Thanksgiving wishes

IMG_7668 2.PNG

Thought this was a perfect photo to show of me flying down Lake Murray blvd with my truck and boat instead of posting pics of small (and even tiny) bass I have caught recently at Lake Murray.
Actually I have not fished much at all this month and yeah recently at Murray caught one ...

Jiggy at Murray 12/2

Finally got into some nicer fish at Murray. Final count was 5. All fish were over two pounds with one going 3.5 and another was 4.5. It really was a beautiful early December day.

Nice to have a day that wasn't a total dinkfest :D

Dec.15-Return to River…oh yeah!

Back for another quick river session as I decided to try something different after catching nothing but dinks over at Murray. I mean I have worked hard and only been ending up with small bass. Anyway....after tons of casts into the green strained water of the SD River and time flying by, I finally ...

12-29-25 - Christmas comes a few days late!

Hey all. Been awhile since I posted a report and today provided the perfect occasion.
Woke up a bit later than I planned. Was concerned about the wind advisory but the forecast said 5-10MPH so I said F it and decided to go join Pourboy at El Cap.

It was cold as a witches teat when I launched ...

Murray 1/6

It was a beautiful day at the Murr today. I got on the water at 8:00 and was off by 1:00. It was mostly cloudy, but not really cold, and no wind to speak of all day. The water was a bit cloudy after the rains, but not as bad as I expected it to be.

My final count was six, with most going over two ...

1st bass of 2026! On track for 365 bass this year...
The coloring on that bass reminds me of some of the winter catches down here at the SD River.
A lighter muddy type of orange color. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

They may not be exactly the same but they sure do act the same so I will be wrong when I say it but hey, it could be a hybrid now.
