Dont know if it was the new moon phase or what, it wasnt as productive as the weeks past.
Did get a few, the weather was great, just feel very lucky to enjoy a day on the water had my brother in law with me, he caught 12 bass , it was his best day count wise.
Nothing really picture worthy.

Can you believe it? San Vicente Jun 5th
Hard to believe that today was my first time out this year. After going my whole life with excellent health, things have gone from bad to since I turned eighty. I really wanted to get out, actually I needed to get out. I got my boat out of mothballs and found that my trolling motor wasn't working. I ...

Halibut
Really solid Halibut fishing in the bay the last couple of weeks from skiffs, kayak, and shore. Using sardines, smelt, and double rig with underspin and white gulp swimbaits.

Fiesta Island
Been fishing fiesta island on the way home from work the past month for the magic hour around sunset and and catching a few bass on lucky crafts every outing while trying to dodge the weeds, and while not many, I get 3-4 every night with most of them are nice ones in the 12-15 range(the top one was ...

Day 1- Hiked into Ramona at sunrise. After about 45 minutes my dog got a foxtail burr in her ear, so we hiked back out and went to the animal hospital. No fish for you.

SD Bay report 5/28
Difficult to get bait, but my dad and I did manage to catch some in the morning and afternoon. The bite was really good yesterday with plenty of bites throughout the day. I broke off on a few fish, one of which felt like a decent ray or guitarfish. I also missed a few bites and pulled the hook on a ...

Tuna Tips Early July 2023
Hi, and welcome. Wanted to share so you can benefit from the errors of my ways on a recent 2-day trip on the Pacifica, a boat I very much enjoyed. The tuna caught were mostly schoolies in the 25-pound range with a few north of 70lbs. We finished with something like 79 BFT and 21 YFT.

Rocky Shorelines - Calico Bass May 22
Walked down to a favorite beach spot to fish a weighted weedless swimbait (shown) along the sand/rock shoreline here, with much smaller surf today.
The recent south swells have migrated tons of sand north on my beach, and have unburied the local acres of eel grass - which is all dead and drifting ...

Re: Doves 2024
Slower than usual opener . Storm with rain , thunder and lightning moved thru the area Thursday night . Of all the birds taken only 1 mourning and 1 white wing that I saw , the others all Eurasian Collared . Had 18 birds for 29 rounds fired , not bad for an old fart with lots of floaters when ...

San Vicente 4/21 report
San Vicente was a lot of fun today. Nothing bigger than this one in the picture, but quite a few of them. All on dropshot. Roboworm in Oxblood red flake or Tequila Sunrise with 3/16 oz weight. Not even a look at jigs or jerk baits. Water was around 63 early this morning and by afternoon, I was ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B
I got Hauser, which I didn't mind since I knew it a little bit better than Pine.
Had about 50 or so fish, not counting the dinks that were a pound or less. Very impressed at the average size. Quite a few of those were 3 to 4 pounds. If I hadn't had to race to the DFW gentleman once I had 3 or 4 ...

Re: Outboards on aluminum boats?
You're obviously not supposed to bring your own outboard powered aluminum craft and add an extra boat to the lake. People have bent the meaning of "float tube/kayak" real far at this point. What a legitimate kayak can do has also changed a ton since the old days though. You can easily sink 20k into ...

Barrett opener
Got to the lake at midnight and already 8 cars in front of me. The launch at pigs was smooth do to the high water. Parking was limited, don’t go pass the bathroom cause there’s no room to back up.
To the fishing, the lake is unrecognizable, water level looks full, the island towards Hauser isn’t ...

Opening Day May 3rd
Opening Day Report:
Got to the lake nice and early and there was still like the 20+ vehicles there. Parking is still fine even with almost a full pool. Pigs is a little crowded though. Pops was kinda lagging, so we were one of the last boats off the dock. Anyway, Jumped in a boat and headed back ...

Re: Barrett opener
John (hey that’s #metoo!) I came here to say the same thing. Only a Barrett angler could get an opening day spot and bounce at noon after a measly 40-spot! Maybe Wednesday is lawn day?!?!
crazy to me. More than once I’ve “needed” that patrol boat to swoop me up in my tube at almost dark
