After the great testicular meltdown Tuesday, I decided to meet up with my buddy Randy for a waderless fishing excursion in Mission Bay. Man it felt good to fish in cool water and swim trunks.
We took off from Dana landing and went under the bridge back behind Sea World. Then we headed back all the ...

Beating the Breeze In Style 6-30
Didn’t do zero dark thirty but probably should have. The spotty bite south of the bridge in Square Mile Flats was immediately on with slower retrieves coming through the grass. Quickly got off a fast retrieving blade bait and on to the drop shot with a Z man TRD. My bro was pounding me though on a 3 ...

Re: Big Bay not good to me today
You have to be able to find the bait usually in order to find better fish. I had an epic bite on the inside cove of bali hai by the docks on corvina in the evening destroying jerk baits.

Packed the float tube and my new ghost shrimp pump and headed to Carlsbad lagoon for the first time.
Forgot to glue the handle on the pump, so there goes that plan.
Launched the tube at 6:30, it was very slow until sunset, then it was wide open until 8:30.A small ned rig Zman trd tossed in the eel ...

Re: San Diego Bay, Crazy Good Fishing!
Thanks for watching! It is an investment if that’s the route you want to go. That being said there are so many options these days so you don’t have to break the bank to get started. Tube, waders, boots and fins. There’s something for any budget out there. If you want any recommendations message me ...

Party crasher
I had a good spotty bite going and then this guy decides to horn in. Too big for the net, too big for the tube, had to kick to shore just to land it, probably took at least an hour just to land. Released to get bigger. Got on a 5/16 ounce jighead and 4" clear grub, 6 lb test line. 26.8 lbs, PB, my ...

Midway Sculpin
Plenty of sculpin next to the midway. Dropper loop rig with market shrimp on size 4 hooks works great. Lots of small ones, but definitely enough keepers to make it worth an afternoon. Don’t cast far—they’re right by your feet.

Re: Washed the skunk and new species
They used to be a real pest in Alamitos Bay, but I haven't seen one in a couple of years... Must be a cycle type thing... Congrats on the double and 1st.... And breaking the skunk...

Bass moved out?
and were replaced with Corvina!
Went down on Sunday to the Cays in search of the usual bass. The first couple hours were slow with only a few spotties. That quickly changed as I suddenly found my self surrounded by bait crashing. Quickly tied on a floating jerk bait I've been wanting to try and it ...

Tidelands Sunday
Only got seven spotties, but a nice day on the water.
Three of the bass were decent sized, 13 to 14 inches.

Didn't to get pics of all of them, but at the end of the day I wish I had, to show the color range. One was brown and white, this one was medium, and the biggest ...

Re: Tidelands Sunday
[attachment=0]Osprey 2025 2.jpgI was out on Sunday as well. (Video is just coming out today) The ospreys are crazy! Not only did I have the one pull the fish out of my hand, but saw one rob a little kid of his trout at Lake Poway this week as he was pulling it out of the water. Not sure what's up ...

Unexpected day in O'side
Thursday I decided to test iout my boat after doing some work to the motor. I wasnt expecting doing much fishing due to the tide was going out and I found they were dredging the mouth of the harbor. Memorial Day Mission Bay Halibut
My son and I have been skunking so bad but I bought a kayak and we went out for the first time and got lucky. He caught 2 spotties, 2 calico, 1 sand bass, 1 halibut, and a spotfin on gulp plastics. I only caught one keeper halibut on live sardines trolling but we had a blast.

Re: Biting midges
Had an acquaintance that had to go to urgent care after battling them all day at a local lake. Like he said, he didn't feel them bite.
But he definitely saw the consequences of them.
