Bay 6-5
Got a hall pass to go fishing and decided I needed to hit the big bay. Launched from shelter at 930 am and went straight across to north island. Fished several depths and found a few fish in about 15-20 feet. I threw mostly swim baits with the occasional drop shot. I made a move to tidelands and ...

Mission Bay 7/2
Did a brief 6 hour session this overcast Sunday without much todo. This was a break-in trip for the new SUP yak and it preformed well. Started off at the Ski Beach Boat Launch and fished my way (regrettably against an incoming tide) from Dana to Quivira without a bite. Eel grass is heavy around Dana ...

Re: SD Bay 6/25
I'd say it was around 16 inches. I caught another one that was just a hair under 14, and this one was much bigger.

The Bay - Mix Bag
Dave and I hit the Bay yesterday from 6am - 11:30am. Fishing in the slack and some of the incoming tide.
I get out here about 3 or 4 times a year. The only goal was to catch as many species as we could.

Big bay 7-29
Hit the big bay today. Launched the whaler at 830 am outta shelter which was a little crowded with the right side of the loading dock out of commission. I went out in guide mode taking a buddy and his 8 yo son out both of which have very little fishing experience. Needed to get the boy on fish so we ...

Spotty Fishing San Diego Bay- A-rig and Ultralight
Hey all headed out to the big bay the other day and spent a few hours fishing when it wasn’t supposed to be any good. It was kind of a slack tide but it was a weekday and I had a day off which almost never happens. I launched the tube at Tidelands on Coronado and almost immediately got a steady hook ...

Re: Spotty Fishing San Diego Bay- A-rig and Ultralight
This time of year (not winter during the grass die off), the channels are usually free of much grass that hangs up on the lures.
Speaking of which, where do the bass go during the winter when the water cools and the grass dies off?
South Bay turns on then, I have had some amazing days there ...

Big spottie, baby ray
Employee appreciation party at Tower Beach Club, I always have my gear in the truck so figured why not? Threw out some mussel meat on a Carolina rig just to see what happens. Bam! First ever stingray within 5 minutes. Did the same again, boom! Bent rod and got snapped off immediately. No idea what ...

Apple bottom vines
Heres some recent shortfin corvina pics. I got the SFC bug for a couple months and let it interrupt my green fish game. It was fun, but after dropping a 9lb largemouth this weekend right at my feet, I'm kinda over it. Goin back to freshy. A couple of these fish were 26-27" the rest were medium sized ...

Re: South Bay 11/13
Nice job! I usually do good on the round jig heads and wham style jigs. If you want to catch a bunch of big bones like that go paddle around the Quivira basin in Mission Bay close to shore near all the boat slips. Have caught 5-9lb bonito there like it was a wide open tuna bite
I was out there ...

Big Bay 12-17
Thought we’d try the opposite tide swing from last trip, low to high. Unfortunately couldn’t find a steady bite in the usual spots. Decided to mix things up and yoyo a blade bait, different from the heavier leadheads and paddle tail plastics I usually fish deep. Started getting spotty bites in the ...

Re: Big Bay 12-17
Way to adapt and find a winner, something I need to work on. I tend to fish a certain technique, and instead of switching it up when it doesn't work, I just fish it harder (with generally poor results).

Solstice Spotties no pics
4.5 Fish Per Hour.
South Bay float tubing.
The wide open winter bite is not here yet.
Got a handful of foot long spotties.
And thirty typical SoBay rats.
No bonus species.
Calm conditions helped me detect a dozen really subtle bites. Used small tube baits, grubs and even got one on a tiny spoon.
