Re: 9/11-Return to home lake
Are you running just a straight swimbait or does that fluke have a swimbait tail on it?
Nice work out there!
It is a smaller Zoom fluke that has a paddle tail.
The Super Zoom flukes(pic below) that most people throw have a v tail and are bigger.

Sept15 HODGES
Got to the lake early in the morning along with very few other anglers. Got the pontoon set up and off I went on my quest. Since we are heading into the fall I figured I would try to catch the bass with large jigs because I know they will soon be trying to gorge themselves ahead of winter. I was ...

9/16-Yeah...that lake
Trying not to bore everyone with a fish report that turns into a novel, I decided to
keep it a little bit shorter and simple. Enjoy! :-)
Fished Murray(yeah, that lake) under cooler and windy conditions
Bass were on the chew... despite 6 or so bass coming unbuttoned, was still able to land 16 bass ...

El Cap: Topwater and Jigs
El Capitan Bass Fishing: Topwater & Jigs!
https://youtu.be/3Ej6sBIWGB4
Hey all I finally made it back to El Capitan after a few months away. I had heard the fishing had improved and wanted to go someplace. I hadn’t been in a while and have fun doing some different things. I got out on the water and ...

Re: El Cap: Topwater and Jigs
Ditto on all the compliments! And by the way, the hookset on that opening intro topwater bite is textbook. We all want to pull the trigger on the splash but your patience until your rod bends is on point.
Thanks! Funny thing about that shot is that it was not even a topwater bite. My jig got ...

Re: El Cap: Topwater and Jigs
Also (not sure if you're interested or not, no worries either way) I posted in the trout section a couple of videos that I did in Montana in July. Some amazing trout and grayling fishing. If you're into that kind of thing.

Re: El Cap: Topwater and Jigs
Nice! I’ve heard that there can be good smallmouth on the lower Owen’s River. I’ve only done trout up there. Enjoy! It’s beautiful this time of year.

9/19- SD River....snap!
Quick morning trip to the SD River and a quick lesson learned.......just leave the rod with mono at home. I usually just take 2 rods rigged with braid line and this morning took an extra rod with 12 lb mono. Heck,I figured that would be fine. Well, later I started flippin a Rage craw with it into ...

Sept 19th...and a new lure for me
Hey all I wanted to share a new lure (for me at least) that I doubt most of you have ever heard of. At least those who do not BFS or ultralight fish. It accounted for over 30 topwater bass yesterday at Murray. Probably 15 were dinks with the rest being 2 lb clones... except...I did manage to pull in ...

Re: Sept 19th...and a new lure for me
I got this crawler thing on Temu for less than $2. It was working wonders at Barrett a couple weeks ago. 8cm only 6.5 grams so its fun on light line!

Bass Council Top 6 at El Cap (bad look)
Hey all, Haven’t had much to report lately, since returning to work after my shoulder replacement. Been out to El Cap a few times with not much but little guys to report. Was out there today and the SD Bass Council was holding their Top 6 tournament.
I fished this tournament a lot back when I was ...

Re: Bass Council Top 6 at El Cap (bad look)
I must agree with you on this subject because I too was out at El Cap today and Im still wobbly. I also caught a bunch of tiny bass Had I had known there was a tournament I would have gone elsewhere. I didnt see the fish they killed but i did see two tourny boats ride up within 10 feet of my pontoon ...

Re: Bass Council Top 6 at El Cap (bad look)
This sucks! If any one here happens to see an unfizzed bass, you can bend out a hook and pinch the bath and fizz fish too! I’ve done it a few times when I haven’t had my fizzier.

It’s Been a Minute..
Hello angling amigos, it’s been a minute since I posted here.
Work and band stuff is keeping me busy… oh, and so is fishing ;)
I have a couple spots I’m admittedly not gonna talk about here where I’ve had success in the last month.
As for the ones I will gladly talk about, have been out to Cap ...

Re: Bass Council Top 6 at El Cap (bad look)
I’m one of those guys that don’t like tournaments or tournament fisherman. Sorry. Well, not sorry… I’ve only ever done ones at night, not for the tournament aspect, just to be able to fish a normally closed at night lake in a boat. The stereotype seems to fit 90%.
If you wanna see that stereotype ...

Lake Hodges 9/22
Hey all I I headed out to Hodges yesterday for three hours in the morning. I got there at 5:30 AM and was the second car in line. The gates didn’t open till after 6 AM and I was on the water around 6:30 AM. The water was way down from the last time I had been out there, and was color of bad gravy. I ...

Re: Lake Hodges 9/22
That’s awesome! Yes, the smell for sure. I went there not long ago and when I got out the car the the smell took me back to being 12 and playing around the lake. I didn’t make it all the way to the dam but by the floating bathrooms it was still dark water. I’m ready for the new dam for sure!
