Re: 8/30-SD River am
I still throw them. I've cleaned up on tiny Brushhogs and a pegged 1/16 oz bullet weight. I Texas rig them on a #2 light wire hook and throw them on my BFS gear. I think Vinny and McFish have seen me have success with that setup. I've even caught a couple of 4 pounders that way which is an ...

Re: Imperial Valley (IV)
This island with the power plant in calexico is very fishy, but also very popular. Easy easy access to camoing and fishing. Ive camped there several times. Theres big lmb, smb, and bg. also carp and cats. They get fished for everyday. You will see them but might not catch them.

Re: Miramar
Have been back a couple times since I posted. Have been able to get quite a few by just throwing kastmasters and spoons, letting them sink a ways before retrieving. Vertical jigging the spoons works pretty well too. The fish seem to hanging out about 30 feet down in the main part of the lake (I don ...

Re: San Vicente Late Summer Bass
It’s funny I didn’t even know there was a rule about how far you could go in a float tube at San V. I guess that’s why you never see guys way out there.
Not having a float tube, I just figured guys didn’t wanna go far out in the lake from where they launch. See… you learn something every day.

Re: Where’s Moose?!
Instagram? Facebook? Another fish site? YouTube?
He said something back then about going back to work, but hopefully he’s fishing somewhere when he can.

Murray 9/6
The topwater bite went off for a couple of hours today at Murray. Pulled in 8, all of them looked about the same. Nothing huge but still a ton of fun.
On a side note, I threw numerous topwater baits; poppers, walking baits, and even a fluke, and the only thing I could get them to hit was a small ...

Re: anglers need to hear and understand this...
The population estimates are 95% confidence intervals. So basically, there is a 95% chance the actual population is within the upper and lower bounds of the confidence interval. For example, this last spring we collected and marked 3,437 LMB larger than 12" from Lake Skinner over 4 laps around the ...

brush hogs.jpg
Hey....just curious on if others throw Zoom Brushhogs. They been around since 1977 and decades ago they were pretty darn
popular as a very popular type of creature baits. I remember using them back then, especially at El Cap and Morena
with great results. Then years later they(many ...

Re: 8/30-SD River am
There was a time, especially before I got the swim bait bug, the only plastics I fished were watermelon red flake brush hawgs… I won’t lie, there were quite a few bags of chocolate blue veins still in the garage on stand by. It is an amazing g bait. When the bite is tough, split shotting tiny brush ...

Re: San Vicente Late Summer Bass
For some reason I feel like going out and grabbing some Stouts? Just can't figure out why?
Nice fish! Seems like Barrett is producing more fish over 5 pounds than most the other SD lakes?

9/11-Return to home lake
Haven been to Murray in 2 weeks and decided to give it a go since the weather finally eased up a little. Bass were up and
down quickly and mainly concentrating on eating shad. Picked up a couple clones on spoons and then started tossing a small
jerk bait, then a super fluke.
After a bit, I thought I ...

Re: Favorite urban fishery
There are a couple of local creeks that are a lot of fun...and you can hear traffic whizzing by on the street, and hikers and mountain bike riders passing by. Most of the fish are small, but every so often....

Thursday Sept. 12
Had an awesome topwater at Murray today! I didn't really keep count but landed somewhere near a couple of dozen. Most were 1-2 pounders with several dinks and the wannabe Godzilla bass in the 3rd pic! But hey, it's topwater and always exciting so I'm not complaining!

9/13- SD River surprise
I thought of going to Murray, but honest, I'm there so often that sometimes it gets old, even
when the fish are biting. It's been a few weeks since I fished the SD River so I thought what
the heck...and there are no permit fees so I
can use the money saved for more fishing tackle.
I was excited ...
