The top water bite at Miramar was still pretty tough but hopefully it’ll pick up. Looks like you had a heck of a lot of topwater fun down there at Otay. I always think of you when there’s topwater fish to be caught. Tight lines always buddy

FFS epic footage
VERY cool footage of Steve Kennedy fishing day 2 of the Bassmaster Elite series at Smith Lake a couple of days ago. At 24.5 minutes he'll explain, and show, how he catches two bass in short order w/ FFS. Too cool, and glad he took the time to show us, makes worth watching, as only hear them talk ...

Re: FFS epic footage
It's like a video game with the old graphics. Imagine what this will be like in 10 years. I have the panoptix on my kayak but I kind of only use it to teach me how the fish are moving. I definitely have learned somethings on how bass herd the bait while watching them at Barrett.

Re: 7/29-Return to Murray
Congrats on another great day, when I see you have a new post I always know you’ll have a great report.
What’s the water level now?
Thanks for posting
In fishing…Nothing is guaranteed......because if I left when my buddy Larry left I would have only caught one small bass.
Water level is up and ...

Re: 7/29-Return to Murray
Way to make the adjustment. Solid angling again.
Thanks Big C.....I know I am not Irish, but was sure lucky. :-)
Ha...lucky smucky! So was it location location location..or timing timing timing??? Definitely not lucky! I've got the Irish, and that's not luck! Good job!

Re: Less Learned OR just an excuse?
Came to say the same thing, bluegill will aggressively grab the tail of a worm and it’s usually after you miss it you think back and realize it was probably a bg. When I was a kid I was taught “get bit, drop the rod tip. Let the fish take the little bit of slack to taught and let her rip”
SP,
I ...

Hodges July 31st
Not much to report from this mornings trip to Hodges. Landed a 2lber on a crankbait right off the bat around 5:30. A couple missed bites over the next hours but that was all. Called it a day at 9:00 when the sun came out.

7/31-More Fun...Murray
Months ago,I got a Jackall Gantarel Jr as part of a deal selling a rod and it has never touched the water. While waiting for my buddy Larry to launch his boat I made a few casts near the boat ramp and was surprised when a small bass slammed it. I was amazed a small bass would hit it and yet so ...

Otay gets it's revenge 7/31
I got on the water before sunrise with the excitement of the previous Wednesday still fresh in my veins. It was a foggy morning with nary a buster in sight. Never the less I was able to get 1 nice one to rise on my topwater Gunfish early. I stayed committed to topwater for an hour and a half but ...

what blade bait is that?
It is a Damiki Vault Blade Bait.

My Damiki’s have a blade in place of that back treble. I should probably switch that out for another treble as there’s already plenty of flash and vibration.
Don't.....well you can do what you want, but I actually ...

Was slow for me too. I took over as you left. Only got three compared to 18 last week. Had an additional six hits that didn’t stick, frogs, bootleg frogs, and whoppers.

Re: Smallmouth spots
Pyramid, Castaic....in fact, Castaic's smallie population has really exploded in the past few years. DVL has a few, but it's hard to target them. Big Bear also has a population as well as Arrowhead, if you have access to it.

Re: 7/31-More Fun...Murray
Funny I was tackle organizing and found a few Lil’Gorges and it brought back memories of Hodges back in the 70’s by the dam casting them out deep and bringing in lots of bass, there was a time it was my favorite lure, I’m going to take them with me next time I go.

Hot weather… hot bite?
Otay has been a lot of fun this summer. Bait is all over and those fish are hungry.
Spent the first 6.5 hours of the day down there this morning and it was a little of everything. Got a topwater fish before I even put my tube in the water. Pulled up to the bank and there were busters in the cove 6 ...
