Cap float 5/12

Took the tubes out to Cap this morning. Mother’s Day had the lake pretty empty early! Only a couple of boat trailers and my brother and I in the tubes.

Immediately started throwing my favorite bladed bait around shallow brush. Got the most action where there was brush in the back of cuts and coves ...

San V (Kayak) 5-11

Got out to San V with a buddy at around 6:00. Went along the shoreline near the launch with topwaters but nothing wanted to come out. Then started cycling between dropshot and brush hog. Managed to stick a few small ones on both rigs. Got my biggest of the day being 3.6lbs at the very beginning ...

Finally some time off from tournaments....

I finally got some time off from fishing these kayak tournaments up here in Northern California..... I was able to find and dial in a pretty speical bite on my now Home pond. Weightless 5" Shad color senko dead sticking on the tops of boulders. Tops of the boulders would be in about 20ft. I found a ...

Re: Cap float 5/12

Some shore fun. Got a new dropshot rod so I respooled, threw my terminal and some plastics in a small pack and grabbed a water bottle and headed down.. not like I needed an excuse to go or anything lol.

Got there about 5pm, hiked down further toward the Dam than usual. About 545 I got 3 in 5 casts ...

Good to be back to the V.

It's been several weeks since I've done a Monday on San V and it felt good to be back! The lake is higher than it's ever been and everything I've learned there in the last 60 years is pretty much out the window! Fortunately, the fish made it easy on me by hanging out in the brush in shallow water. I ...

Re: Good to be back to the V.

This is definitely the time of year you could bring nothing but a package of size 2 EWG hooks and a couple packages of thin senkos to San V and just pick apart that shallow brush. Watching your line move and then working to get that fish the hell out of the bushes makes for a lot of fun.

Lake Hodges: The Pattern Is Changing!

https://youtu.be/VSXS-VjaDkM?si=WeYIIFA89hrpOusc

Hey, all I hope fishing is treating you well. I headed out to Hodges twice this week each for just a few hours in the morning. Both days when I got there, the shad were busting up on shore with the birds having a frenzy right next to the Bass. The ...

Re: Good to be back to the V.

Good job. I was there a little over a week ago and had a nice Topwater session. Spooks, whoppers and frogs. Lost a DD bulldogged me deep after inhaling the spook - heart break. Fun times ahead

Re: The City of San Diego is at it again!

Unbelievable but not. Big government’s reckless spending comes to this. All starts with your vote.

If I could win one of those huge lottery jackpots, it be interesting if they would accept $59,000 from private citizen. Odds are they would not.
Much too easy.

They would spend it else where, and blame global warming.
I think it was the Rougarou .

Back to back casts 5/17

Like @VinnyBass I figure you are all tired of seeing my Murray posts. Still, I thought I'd share a couple of pics of a decent bass and a large bluegill caught on consecutive casts with the same bait. Fun!

Very nice. Looks that big bluegill hasn't come up shallow enough to get much color yet.

FLOATay Sat 5/18

Some Otay morning action in the tubes today. Brother and I have effectively starting calling it “FLOATay” because it’s such a float tube friendly lake. Lots of good spots to launch and fish there. Every trip I’ve taken down there I’ve encountered quite a few tubers as well.

How was the fishing? We ...

Well heck Dannicus .....since you already posted a Murray report...I will slip something
in. It was very fun running into you and sharing fishing stories on Thursday while each of us even caught a few bass.
Amazing how many stories fellow fishermen can share with each other. Nice job out there on ...

Re: Back to back casts 5/17

I was fishing my Ark gravity BFS on a Dobyns 701c. I have a new favorite rig. It's a #2 light wire ewg hook. I Texas rig it with a 1/16 oz Nako bullet weight which I peg it with a couple of bobber stops above and below the weight. I usually keep the weight about 1/4" away from the hook.

These were ...
