Re: El Cap 3-29 Report

Tonight, the fish were out deeper. Seems the storm/cold front made them retreat from the shallows. Little warming trend mid week so hopefully back on course this weekend. Just a couple dropshot fish tonight, one about 8 1/2” and one about 14”. Definitely not the bite I was on last week. Water level ...

Re: El Cap 3-29 Report

Also - there’s a pair of bald eagles nesting in the trees just east of the dam. My last trip prior to today we heard a loud “CRACK” and we looked back to see an Eagle flying with branches in his talons, they were building their nest. Today one of them was circling the area looking for floaters ...

Amazing Storm Fishing! Hodges 3/30

Amazing Storm Fishing! Spinnerbait Bite Out Of Control!
https://youtu.be/7pEDQ0Hzw8w

I woke at 4:50 AM on Saturday morning ready to go fishing completely committed to the cause. As I looked at the wind, howling outside, and the rain pouring down, I decided to go back to bed at least for a couple ...

Re: El Cap 3-29 Report

Thanks for the report! I know that feeling of sticking it out too long without reward. Great job for finding them and "Don't Fear The Reaper". I love those. Cheers and see you out there soon!

Have not been to Murray for a while....so I figured...ah, what the heck.
The few times I have gone the last few months...just catching some small clones and dinks here and there so I have not posted any fish reports. I have enjoyed reading other fish reports and great so see guys posting a little ...

Re: El Cap 3-29 Report

Similar tonight to last night. Picked up one little 10” male about 5:15pm and tacked on a 3 pounder on my last cast of the day at 6:55.

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

That’s his legal right (unless he’s not a license holder). There is no law that states you can’t take a fish at any time of the year unless the lake is strictly catch and release like Barrett. There’s no way to regulate harvest during spawn as that happens at different times per location and some ...

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

Overpopulation can also be a problem, especially when the food sources are scarce. I'd rather see fewer healthy large sized bass than tons of skinny dinks.

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

I’m not a fan of anglers harvesting fish during the spawn, that’s just my personal opinion, but to camobass’ point, it’s their legal right and it’d be really difficult to regulate. On top of that, I see lots of guys fish the local lakes without even purchasing their permits. If the rangers don’t ...

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

While I do agree with what camobass said above..........personally I just don't like seeing someone harvest a fish during the spawn. I do understand that there are many anglers out there that are fishing not only for fun, but to bring something home to eat. I have to respect others who maybe the ...

Re: Catch & Release and Harvesting During the Spawn

To further camobass 's point, most if not all our lakes need culling and better management. There's another perspective of genetics. That female that you're talking about could easily be predisposition to producing sub-par growth (aka dinks). Its not correct to assume that bass grow and evolve ...

First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

Weather finally cooperated and bro and I finally got to take the float tubes out for their maiden voyage. We figured Murray would be a great place to start as it’s a smaller body of water. We launched about 8am and basically just kicked a lap around the lake starting in Padre cove fishing along the ...

Re: First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

Tubing is its own thing, and it sort of lends itself to slowing down/finesse fishing for the most part. You can’t cover a lot of water, being low in the water makes using many baits and even longer rods hard to fish. I’ve only had round tubes since I was a kid. Always adjusting myself in the seat. I ...

Re: First time in the tube! Murray 4/6

I had others plans and errands to run and wish I could have fished today, but when you told me you and your brother would
be out with your new tubes at Murray, I just had to stop by the lake. It was great to see you out there and I have never fished
out of one, but you guys looked comfortable like ...
