Hi all,
The report is that the lake is closed on the third Wednesday of the month. It's not on the website if you pull the county page, however you can find it by going to one of the other reservoirs and seeing the pdf stating Hodges is closed. Or....you can go there on the third Wednesday of the ...

Re: Hodges report March 20
The fact that they can't afford to have the facilities open 365 days a year is already BS IMO, and don't even get me started on closing at night even for shore fishing... I'm glad I fish mostly saltwater now.

Re: Murray 3/20
That's a nice bag of fish. On the BFS stuff, you may get quite a surprise, apparently there are some monster bass in the waters of Murray. There's a post on a double digit bass caught there recently. Wouldn't that be a great time on the light gear?

Re: Hodges report March 20
A lot of funny things with our local reservoirs compared to virtually everywhere else. It’s an absolute JOKE. Go big CA government, where your best interest is the last thing on their mind.

Re: Lake Murray 12.3 pound bass caught.
Too bad we don't have City Officials that don't have any pride any more=(

Otay 3/20 - First time back in a couple years
My first trip back to one of my favorite lakes in almost 2 years due back surgery. And, it was a good one.
The lake was completely different than I remembered. The areas I used to fish were now 5-8 ft deeper. A lot of the vegetation was totally different. Access to areas long overgrown were open ...

3/21-Lake Poway Exploratory trip
Took off to Lake Poway mostly on an exploratory mission and to get a few hours of fishing in from shore. I had not been up to Lake
Poway for a very long time and figured I would go take a look. I did expect a few trout fishermen but never expected so many of
them on a Thursday morning. It was ...

Re: Lake Murray 12.3 pound bass caught.
As Vinny can attest I fish Murray from my float tube an average of 4 days per week. I regularly pull in good numbers of bass, with the occasional scattered 6 pounder plus. The numbers of fishermen on the lake varies from negligible to quite a few on weekends. Lots of shore guys showing up ...

Re: Murray report March 22
I’m glad you like your new fishfinder. Always fun to check out different water depths, structure and fish alerts… but It’s too bad it couldn’t alert you of an “excessive talking Vinny alert” when we met …..ha ha
Again, it was great meeting you guys and hopefully your next trip down to Murray the ...

The lake staff remain on duty on the closed days. How is that saving money? Seems selling permits on those days would make money!

Re: Murray report March 22
Not to be picky but the “caught 5” guy caught trout. He actually laughed and said he gave up bass fishing, too hard. After my day yesterday…🤔
Still fun and loving my new fishfinder. And meeting Vinny Bass was cool.
That's funny it was trout. I may have been hearing poorly. My wife has ...

Hodges report March 23
Got there bright and early and waited in line again. This time they did open, so that felt like a small victory. :)
Got on the water and noted that the water was already 64F. Dead calm, no wind at all. So the lake was literally telling me today would be a topwater day. Or so I thought. I picked ...

Re: Hodges report March 23
Ask OtayMichael, everyday, 365 days a year is time for top water. Got my biggest bass on top in winter.

Re: Hodges report March 23
Agreed Camobass, my biggest bass is also on topwater. The way I usually fish my little jerkbaits effectively makes them topwater-ish. I sure do like the topwater strike, it's got to be the most dramatic, as long as you are watching it.

Re: Hodges report March 23
True I catch them all year on top but usually the dead of winter only the big ones hit, which is fine. Certain lakes have already gone off. I did well at Skinner two weeks ago getting 20 on top and 10 on jerk baits. But they were all dinks (see pic) except for one two pounder on the JB. Still fun ...
