Re: Launch conditions @ Cap
With El Cap, Hodges, Morena, and Sutherland now below 15%, San V, Otay, and Barrett will be destroyed next! They have to keep Murray and Miramar up to run the filtration plants. The City has no money to buy water, so kiss your lakes goodbye....you'll be drinking what you used to be fishing! The ...

Re: FINALLY back on the water! San V 5/24
Not just every bass boat, but every boat that the owner does not want to be put in to the salt.
Thanks for the report.

Re: Where are the reports from Sat 5/23 and Sun 5/24?
I think folks might be tending to their depression with how poorly the lake has been fishing.
My guess too. How are the boys? They get out there yet? If Theo can’t figure out the mystery and pound them good, I’m selling my gear 😂😂

Re: Algae blooms at Barrett and other lakes
Maybe it’s possible that the lake didn’t have the cooler water temperatures since the Sept. closing and the lake temp stayed the same, but it doesn’t explain the better catches with the guys pre-fishing in April.

Re: Where are the reports from Sat 5/23 and Sun 5/24?
Hey Shawn,
I think we can all speculate on the issues at Barrett and various resolutions. I kind of think that things like this are a bit cyclical and we can expect this cycle to also correct. When it will correct is the question to ask, but that's a question that uncovers more questions, maybe if ...

Re: Where are the reports from Sat 5/23 and Sun 5/24?
Many years ago Barrett fish were skinny as they are now. The answer was a shad plant and the following seasons size was much better. I posed this with a state biologist recently and he thinks the extremely high number of fish due to C&R would make a shad plant a meager drop in the bucket of what ...

5/26- Overcast, Windy Murray
Headed over to Murray this morning and was greeted with over cast skies and cool weather. Not much later it got pretty windy and the water got very choppy. I took was my small kayak, that does not get much lake action because when the winds came up it was almost like trying to keep a popsicle stick ...

Re: Where are the reports from Sat 5/23 and Sun 5/24?
We're headed out tomorrow and would love to get the latest intel on where things are at so we can gear up accordingly.
The fish are lethargic and there is a lot of algae in the water. Drop shot and Senkos worked slowly did best for me. Fish I caught on 5/20 seemed to be either close to the bank ...

Re: Where are the reports from Sat 5/23 and Sun 5/24?
I suggested to F&G that we harvest slot fish at Barrett and release them in SV......u may laugh but he said they have done that before. One way I fish Barrett under these conditions is using 6-8 lb line on a 1/16 or 1/32 bullet weight Texas rigged single tail grub or twin tail rubber bait. I stopped ...

Wed 5/27 - What Algae?
I’m not sure if we fished a different Barrett than others have been fishing, but this felt like the normal Barrett we’ve fished the last 20+ years, other than the lower water level.

I don’t have the energy to do the full on report today, and gotta get back to helping my wife with the kids after taking the day off, but there were definitely encouraging signs of life out there today.

Re: Wed 5/27 - What Algae?
It sounds like conditions changed a lot from last weekend. I fished both Saturday and Sunday (23-24) and it was pretty tough each day. Fished Pine one day and Hauser+main lake the other. Caught 48 total across both days, biggest was about 3lbs, most 1-2lb. Zero top water bites either day and only ...

Wed 27 report…. Cold weather.
On the water by 5, the weather was cold, fog, and little bit of rain. Lots of boaters, not many kayaks or tubers. First bass on the plopper, the rest of the day was all top water for me, got a couple of busters. Biggest was @2 lb. Ended up @ 15, the cold weather didn’t help much. Left @ noon and the ...
