Sutherland opened today and everybody seemed to know. I wrote a longer report but touched the wrong button and it vanished! Not as easy as it used to be, or I am dumber!
Short version: Water is cold, fish are in the stick-ups and seem to be few.

Wow. The lake and water management in this county is appalling.

20240301_061331.jpgNice fish...but I caught 2 just like that, I just chose to release them..when they jumped! Amazing how I had no problem landing the other 6 micro-bass! Don't make plans to launch a boat here this summer, not happening!

Some Sad Sh*t.
I was so bummed out when I found out. Didn't think about checking the water levels while it was closed.
This is plain stupid. Lower than Hodges or Morena?

Why deliver so much? Why none last year? Seems there would be middle ground?Queue wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 2:06 pm
Sutherland is there to collect the water that falls out of the sky and deliver it to the people of SD.

San V 3/4 Epic morning
I’m really bummed I have to go back to work next Monday. The last two have been really good to me at San V. Last week I got the 7lber and today I boated 27 (no BS, I have pics of most of them).
The bite started almost right away this morning. Messed around with a chatterbait for about a dozen casts ...

This is exactly what time on the water gets you! I haven't seen anyone grind the way you do, no matter the weather.

Re: C&R gone too far?
In my experience, freshwater fish taste has a lot to do with the body of water they come from. Colder bodies definitely taste much better. I’ve had very tasty bass, walleye and crappie from cold lakes (not local). Fish from flowing water tastes better too. It’s all about caring for them too. Gill ...

Re: El Cap 3/5 cure for bass thumb
Bait was pretty consistent at 20ft throughout the lake. Other than the guy throwing the 10XD, the only other fish I saw caught were in the sticks, shallow. Water temp was 62. I was expecting a much better bite than it was.

Re: El Cap 3/5 cure for bass thumb
Was out there yesterday and didnt feel crowded. Maybe just used to it. Had a decent day. 8 fish from 1.97 lb to 3.25 lb, best 5 around 13.5 lb. Was not fishing hardbaits, just worms and they seemed to work but only in 2 spots of the half dozen areas I hit. Better luck next time Moose, I cant catch ...

Re: El Cap 3/5 cure for bass thumb
I will say the front part of the lake wasn’t too bad but as the day went on, all the typical sections of the North Arm seemed to have a boat on it. Just felt like it was fishing small. I could be spoiled by the room of being on a bigger lake during weekdays as well. Glad you got on em yesterday!
