Re: Nonstop Topwater & Jigs Action 6/16

Hey that’s not good! Now he has to share with everyone! I think we learned that in elementary school. But yes, you’re right that’s exactly what I was doing. Like I said I’ve never actually fished with the bait before or even seen anyone fish with it. I heard that they were good so I picked up a ...

Re: Nonstop Topwater & Jigs Action 6/16

Great day on the water with you. Thanks for the tutorial on jigs. I was so excited with that fish until he clearly knew what he was working with and wrapped me around a tree. I'm going to practice a bit more.

John, apologies. I will definitely fix that on our next trip. I actually bought a new ...

Barrett Report June 19

Got out at 0430 with Chuck and Joe. Of course we all headed different ways, Chuck to a cove where he had success last week and I pedaled to Becky's cove. Joe passed me on the way to Hauser and that was the last I saw of him today. Air was a little chilly at 54F, slight wind, but water a pleasant 75 ...

The beer we had was actually an oatmeal stout, so it's a breakfast food. It's ok. :)

Barrett Report June 22

Good day on the water at Barrett for Saturday. Got out dark and early which is my favorite. Water was already at 74F and the air was probably about 60 F. Slight chop from that evening wind. What was fun was the moon was so bright it almost was light enough. See first picture, that's not a sun, that ...

Re: Barrett Report June 22

I always thought you need instant motion with the whoppers and choppers to keep them on the surface but Pourboy’s success the other day with intermittent sinks has me thinking.

I think it's always good to mix it up on topwater. What I didn't like about the imitators is that the blade portion ...

It's kinda like chatterbaits. I see the cheap ones take a while for the blade to start vibrating. It's no wonder why the Jackhammer is the standard.

Barrett Report June 26

Short report today. Chuck and I got out there at the usual 0430. What was unusual was the there was a steady wind already. Water temp was at 76F. Went to the usual places, but they were a bit windblown and the kayak was hard to keep still. Chuck stayed on the Becky's cove side of Hauser and I went ...

Frogging in the thick cheese

Got to water with Dave @4:30, unusually windy but managed to get them on the crawler, a couple of 3 pounder.
Headed back to Hauser after Dave left and started with the frog, dragging it over the thick mat of cheese and when there’s a water opening the bass would explode on it. Gotta have braided ...

Barrett Report June 29

Hello all,

Got out at dark with pond_prowler_619, Ismael. Air temp was 56F, and the water 76F. Unlike Wednesday, there was just the light normal breeze that Barrett gets. I was already hopeful. Headed over to the opening of Hauser, but there were a couple of people there already, so I changed up ...

[Late] Report for June 19

Hey Barrett crew, posting this late report for Wednesday June 19:

With the help of the great guidance provided here (thanks again to those who responded to my "fishing identity crisis" post), I felt like we were starting to get our groove on again!

Me and my son got on the water on the late side ...

Good looking fish you've got there. I'm baffled at the fact that you got both you and your boy on your tube.

Sunday 6/30 day at Barrett

Lots' of fun till about 10:00AM. Actually caught 5 good bass before my Buddy even had a bite. Top that off, caught that first bass on my first cast with a new rod and reel setup. Yes it was good luck because I caught the next four in quick succession. Senko fishing was a bit tuff with all the shore ...

June 30 afternoon report

Too old to fish all day anymore. Not that long ago it was 7AM to 8PM. Now afternoons only.

Bass not feeding like they were last two times out, but got quality. Many days in my 30 years fishing Barrett I've had 40 plus days, but out of the 40 maybe 2 or 3 maxed at 2.50 pounds. Sunday my 1st fish ...
