It's kinda like chatterbaits. I see the cheap ones take a while for the blade to start vibrating. It's no wonder why the Jackhammer is the standard.Early release wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 3:48 pmWhat I didn't like about the imitators is that the blade portion didn't start spinning as soon as you moved it.

Barrett Report June 26
Short report today. Chuck and I got out there at the usual 0430. What was unusual was the there was a steady wind already. Water temp was at 76F. Went to the usual places, but they were a bit windblown and the kayak was hard to keep still. Chuck stayed on the Becky's cove side of Hauser and I went ...

Frogging in the thick cheese
Got to water with Dave @4:30, unusually windy but managed to get them on the crawler, a couple of 3 pounder.
Headed back to Hauser after Dave left and started with the frog, dragging it over the thick mat of cheese and when there’s a water opening the bass would explode on it. Gotta have braided ...

Barrett Report June 29
Hello all,
Got out at dark with pond_prowler_619, Ismael. Air temp was 56F, and the water 76F. Unlike Wednesday, there was just the light normal breeze that Barrett gets. I was already hopeful. Headed over to the opening of Hauser, but there were a couple of people there already, so I changed up ...

[Late] Report for June 19
Hey Barrett crew, posting this late report for Wednesday June 19:
With the help of the great guidance provided here (thanks again to those who responded to my "fishing identity crisis" post), I felt like we were starting to get our groove on again!
Me and my son got on the water on the late side ...

Good looking fish you've got there. I'm baffled at the fact that you got both you and your boy on your tube.

Sunday 6/30 day at Barrett
Lots' of fun till about 10:00AM. Actually caught 5 good bass before my Buddy even had a bite. Top that off, caught that first bass on my first cast with a new rod and reel setup. Yes it was good luck because I caught the next four in quick succession. Senko fishing was a bit tuff with all the shore ...

June 30 afternoon report
Too old to fish all day anymore. Not that long ago it was 7AM to 8PM. Now afternoons only.
Bass not feeding like they were last two times out, but got quality. Many days in my 30 years fishing Barrett I've had 40 plus days, but out of the 40 maybe 2 or 3 maxed at 2.50 pounds. Sunday my 1st fish ...

Re: June 30 afternoon report
Thanks for the report Durango — glad to hear you had a quality day. And I’ve seen those Arnie sized Bluegill out there myself. No bobcat sightings yet, but we came across an owl and a tarantula on the road there (on separate trips unfortunately).

Re: June 30 afternoon report
Answers to questions: Caught them 15 to 20 feet deep. Yes, mucho moss. Had to clean off hook and split shot after nearly every cast. A real downside to the drop-shot, got very tedious. But worth it. I am still shocked at the quality of the bass. And yes, those bluegill can get really big!

Re: June 30 afternoon report
Oops. Didn't answer the wind question. Was concerned on the drive out to Barrett. Trees were whipping back and forth, flags were flying. But once down in the gorge that is Barrett Lake, there was wind, but nothing serious. By 430 the wind was there, but made for an almost perfect drift where I was ...

Re: [Late] Report for June 19
So awesome! Being a dad is a great thing, fishing with your kids is even better!
I love my FRM Boards tube. I fished mine for 5 years, gave it to my eldest son, and bought another one. I have a Bixpy motor mounted underneath it and highly recommend it!

Re: Hot June Water Drop 7-7-24
I was out yesterday, all day. Got 16, half were between 2.6 and 3.4 lbs (love the digital gauge). All but one on a weedless Ned rig, other on a fat Ika. Despite the 103F forecast and heat advisory warning, it was quite comfortable on the water in the tube, all I had to do was roll the waders down ...

Re: Hot June Water Drop 7-7-24
A few years ago I drove down the hill at open with only a few cars in front of me and a guy parked so bad he had already nearly blocked anyone else from parking. By the time I left the lake at 7pm, someone had ripped his back bumper clean off. Justice.
