Re: Slow and Hot 8-30

Hi John,

I couldn't make it yesterday, I had to actually work. :( I'm going to try vertical jigging in deeper water. In the main lake it's 100 feet deep and there's a thermocline that seems to be holding bigger fish. I'll let you know, but I'm still chasing the busters, because that's the most fun.

Wednesday 30 kayak report

Got there @5:30, and you can feel the heat coming. Headed back to Hauser picking up one on popper, another on a crawler. Very slow until busters came up, five other boats around and we sat waited for them to bust around us. It was fun if you can land on top of them, jerk bait and flukes worked for ...

8/30 Report (Back for Seconds...)

Very slow start to the day, we just had a couple bass and a bluegill on the boat by 9am.

Was at the end of Hauser when the breakers showed up around that time. There are 5 boats (and one kayak, I think that was you 619bassin ) - and we were all sharing the sporadic surges of bass that came up to ...

Barrett report September 2nd

Hi all,

Nice day at Barrett lake. Got there a little later in the morning around 0530, since lately the early bite hasn't been impressive. Got on the water by 0600 and went over past Wilson's creek, Picked up two on the popper, but after an hour of poking around that was all to be found there. I ...

A bit different today! Sept 2

The lake seemed a bit different today! First, my 7 and 9 year old sons fished the pants off of me and my buddy. Largely because they realized fairly quickly that the Crappie and Blue Gill were big and biting, while the bass fishing was more slow going (for us) than in recent visits. They landed 18 ...

Re: A bit different today! Sept 2

Hey! Was a lot of fun hearing your kids tell us about their day when we were cleaning up after a fun day of fishing. Those two boys were so stoked and it takes me back to the times my dad took me fishing as a kid. I still feel like those two boys did after a good day of fishing (heck, even a bad day ...

Vintage Barrett T-Shirt

Pulled this out of the closet and started to wear it again. Early 90's t-shirt me and my two buddies had made up for us to wear at Barrett. Just thought I'd throw it out there for laughs.

Barrett report September 9th

Hello,

Here's the update from me for September 9th. Got there right before sunrise. Slight wind from the north and about 70 degrees F. Water was also cooler at 76. Did the usual poking around heading towards Hauser. Did something I have never done before at Barrett and caught a fish on the very ...

Barrett report September 13th

Hi everyone,

Quick report today. Got there about 0530, it was a little cold out, but when I got to the water, it was down to 74.3 degrees F. Went straight to Hauser, since I'm headed there anyway, over in Becky's cove picked up two on poppers. Rambled around on my way to the back and picked a total ...

Barrett report September 16th

Hi everyone,

Here's what happened at Barrett today for me. Got there about 0515 and in the water by 0545. Air temp was 60 and the water was 73.4, which is certainly cooler than you'd think for this time of year. I thought about it and since the lake is maybe 25-30 feet higher, maybe it's a better ...

Re: Barrett report September 16th

Hi John,

There were busters, but they were quick and really sort of subdued. I went over to Pine Arm yesterday for a change and fished those little bays along the way. They were up and then gone, so if you weren't right there, you had no chance. But, I haven't been seeing the crazy busters over a ...

Best. Day. Ever. (Aka Sept 17 report)

Sunday was the best day of bass fishing we’ve ever had. Maybe our best day of fishing period!

Me and my two boys (7 & 9) got on the water by 5:30am and fished for the next 13 hours. And we would have kept fishing if they let us! They air and water were cooler than in weeks past and the lake seemed ...

Barrett report September 20th

Hi all,

Not a lot to report today. Got out at about 0600, water was colder yet, 72.1F. Slight wind from North in early hours. Played around in main lake on way to Hauser, 4 fish by 0630 all on the black popper. Next fish came in Hauser on the jerkbait, 2 more bass and 2 large bluegills. Bass were ...

Re: Barrett report September 16th

It seems like the fish are mostly suspended, or buried deep in the moss-covered brush, especially getting more into those tough-to-catch-them postures as the day goes on.

Hi, I was using the panoptix to find them back in the usual places where they were previously busting. They are still in the ...

Re: Barrett report September 20th

Similar to your report Dave, I did get 4.7lb on a jig and 3.2 on flukes. Ended with 7 bass, cooler weather definitely effect the bite.

Re: Barrett report September 20th

I was there. We did pretty good. 50 fish between two kayakers.
Lots of solid 3 lb fish. Biggest for me would be a 5 lber followed by a 4.
A Rig and glide bait.
The bite has picked up for me since last time I was there.

Re: Best. Day. Ever. (Aka Sept 17 report)

Best. Report. Ever. Lol. Big thanks for your detailed catch info. Headed out Sunday and then closing day and this really helps. Had an A-Rig already in my plan but am elevating a couple of options and rethinking others.

Hey John, good to hear you’re getting out there again a couple times before ...
