Re: Barrett report August 12th
In the market for a new FF and will give the Panoptix a good look. Thanks for your report. Going next Saturday!
See you Saturday. I'm really happy with the Panoptix/livescope. The hardest part of the install was milling my transducer bracket to allow it to invert, so my transducer stays above ...

Re: Barrett report August 12th
On my end, Today was an experimental one where I tried to get into a larger grade of fish. I started off strong with 7 fish on the jig out of 20 feet of water, got 3 more on flylined 6 inch Tiki Shad’s,(Similar to Yamamoto Shad Worms) they sink enticingly and fast on a 4/0 EWG heavy flipping hook, I ...

Rain advice
I have tickets for a boat this Sunday but it looks like we might get rain from this hurricane down by baja.
Other than, I'll take your tickets... any advice or info I should know about how it works at the lake when there is rain? Does the staff close the lake road or access under any circumstances ...

Re: Rain advice
It would have to rain quite a bit to start runoff that would really impact the road. There's a couple spots that I think may need attention for this winter, because they might wash out. One actually has a cone by it. Weather underground is predicting less than an inch of rain. But if you look at the ...

Wednesday 8/16 HOT 🥵
Got to the lake @430, headed to Hauser, fishing in the dark and fighting the mosquitoes, bugs. Very slow for the first two hours, only managed 4 and two aggressive blue gills. Busters were around but didn’t last long after the sun came up. It was super hot and humid! Ended up at 20 bass 2 gills ...

Re: Rain advice
There's one other thing, there's a fire around three miles from the Hauser corner of the lake that's gone from 5 acres at 1200 to 400 acres at 1900. https://share.watchduty.org/i/10723
Be safe out there, it's just fishing.

Barrett report August 19th
Hello all,
It's posted in the forum elsewhere that Barrett ( all city lakes ) are closed tomorrow and Monday. My opinion is that's a great move. I went out this morning around 0500. On the way to the lake we were all treated to a pretty impressive lightning show. It seemed to be up in the clouds ...

Re: Barrett report August 19th
Hi, when I logged in this morning Watch Duty had it at 41% contained, later this morning all evacuation notices were lifted and the fire was at 55% contained. I didn't see any smoke at all.Pond_prowler_619 wrote: Sat Aug 19, 2023 4:39 pm Awesome report as always bud... was the fire still going?

Re: Great Early!
Hey John, Nice pics of the lightning. Good to see you. That was nice that you were able to tow someone back. I wouldn't have wanted to be stuck with a dead motor today.

Re: Great Early!
Did you get any footage of the white caps in Hauser? I thought I was going to swamp when I had to run parallel to the wind getting out of the back bay.

Barrett report August 23rd
Hi everyone.
For those who are wondering, the road to Barrett is just fine, no wash outs and it appears someone may have dragged it also, so that's nice.
Got there a little later 0530 and took my time getting into the water at 0600. First thing is the water is 4 degrees cooler than it was last ...

Re: Barrett report August 23rd
Chuck said it was slow and it sure was. Ended with five or six on top but very nice models. Jules said a bunch of guys reported skunks.
Yes, Lori’s husband dragged the roads after the rain. They have a small window to do it while it’s damp she said.

Re: Barrett report August 23rd
Michael,
I also noticed the water level, based on looking at the water lines on the plants. I think maybe they let a foot of water out, or it's possible I didn't notice the water level before.
DarkShadow, I think that's probably true on the northern strain of largemouth, but I think that their ...

Barrett report August 26th
Hi all,
Here's what I found today. Got on the water around 0530, it was 75-76 water temp and a light wind. Pedaled to Wilson's cove for a change, picked up one bass on a jig. Headed along the shoreline towards pine arm. Picked up 5 bass on the popper. Pedaled over to Hauser. Found fish in the back ...

Re: Slow and Hot 8-30
Thanks for the report, I think it might be changing a bit on the busters. I'm going to try some other methods this weekend and I'll report. Last week I could see them coming up on the scope, but they'd stop short or boil for a couple seconds and go down. I saw a lot of fish lower in the water column ...

Re: Slow and Hot 8-30
Thanks for the report John. I was wondering how the extreme heat, full moon, and tropical storm were going to impact things. Hopefully their lack of appetite means they will be extra hungry this Saturday! Because our crew doesn’t have many tricks up our sleeves
