Re: Ecstatic finish
Speaking of the osprey, 3 weekends ago during a wolf pack busters near our boat heard a splash. Not more than 10ft away from us was the osprey flapping its wing struggling in the water. Few seconds later it took off with a 1.5lb+ bass in its grip, a national geographic moment for sure. Counting the ...

Re: Spawn on?
When I fished it a week ago, there were fish in all stages.
Some were hard locked on beds, some were wandering the shallows with a mate.
Some were just making their nests, and some were guarding nests.
Water temp was in the low 60s, FWIW.

Re: Spawn on?
You fished it ? Did you have to use their boats ? How was the fishing ? That's awesome you get to fish early I might add . I bass fish alot wondering what you like to use at Barrett ? Did you catch anything with size ? Sorry about all the questions if I never ask anything I don't learn .

Opening Day 2024 at the Big B
Had a lot of fun today at the Big B. I would call it quality over quantity. We still got about 60 between us that included a dozen four pounders and a nice five pounder. A lot of three pounders also. The topwater bite was just okay on the PopR and the whopper plopper. I switched to the flipping the ...

Nice job out there!
The Barrett fest has officially begun.
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun.
Too bad all the lakes are not like Barrett.

Barrett opener kayak report
Met Dave and Joe and was on the water @4 am thanks to Jose getting the crowd in, it was busy.
Headed to Hauser and started with the popper in the dark and got a nice 5lb on the second cast. Top water was working all day for me, popper and crawler. Did find some busters on jb. Similar to last year ...

Barrett Report May 1
Well, made it to the opener and saw several pals. Headed out at something like 0415 thanks to Jose letting us get going early. Water temp was already 67F and wind was calm. Chuck (619Bassin) and I headed out together and were planning to go back in Hauser. I developed rudder trouble with my kayak ...

Re: Opening Day 2024 at the Big B
A couple observations from yesterday. I think the lake is real healthy. The bass are chunky, even the smaller ones. There are occasionally huge balls of shad appearing. The water looks great. Since the lake is so full there is a ton of submerged brush and you can get hung up easily. Some anglers did ...

Re: Barrett Report May 1
Glad you were able to repair all and get back in on the action.
Thanks, I learned a little repair kit might be nice to have. I must have been a sight spinning around in my kayak in the dark at the shoreline trying to crimp a tube with my scissors while turning a nut with my multitool. I may ...

Barrett Opener boat report
Arrived at 4:30am and seemed like perfect timing. No dust, no vehicles driving in at that time and rather wide open parking. Learned that they are now only doing 15 boats (with 5 on deck for backup/emergencies) versus 25 in years’ past. Noticed a slew of tubers but because of the lake being so full ...

Great report and really enjoyed all the details. I could visualize so much of your day on the water.

Re: Barrett Opener boat report
Just keep moving when you can't find fish. They are there in bunches. A 10 fish day can quickly turn in a 30 fish day in a short time.

And don't be afraid to fish that 20 foot range, and don't let the runts in the shallows eating anything they can fit in their mouth make you lose focus on the ...

May 4
Pretty fun morning at the B for me. I had 67 by 2pm when I decided to go home. Nothing over 3 but the topwater was great for me in the morning.
The key to the topwater for me was finding the bait. It was an ok bite but it really took off for me when I spotted the wolfpacks. I would get 3-6 bass ...

Re: May 4
Nice work. I was back there, it was a little difficult with all those threes but worth it. A kayak is easier than a boat and yes frog bite will be on soon, I did get 2 on frog.
