Re: Go to bait
An observation or two from this thread…once again the pro’s in this forum are most generous and giving of hard-earned advice and second, this thread may have boosted the local tackle economy significantly 😂
Every time I read about a "go-to bait" on this post, I wonder why I am not using it or ...

Re: Go to bait
John, I think the next time we go fishing, we should fish each other's favorite lures. Of course if one of us starts catching on the other's lure, you can switch back.

Murray 12/26 rattle trap trout
Son and I flipped a coin and it came up Murray, so we headed out not knowing anything really since I haven’t fished it since early spring. Started out throwing my trusty crawdad Red Eye shad and about 4 casts into the morning my bait got clobbered. Turned out to be about a 2lb trout. Certainly didn ...

San V 12/28
My son and I hit San V today for one last trip before he heads back to Montana. After the bust that Murray was Tuesday I was looking forward to San V today.
No busters to speak of except for the occasional single in the bushes. We ended the day with 9 combined. Very happy to say my boy out fished ...

El Cap to end the year
Happy new year bass anglers!
Spent the last weekend of 2023 out at El Cap. On Saturday it just felt like even though the shore bite has been really tough recently, the rain and being 3 days post full moon made me feel like there was a chance to pick up some quality bites.
That hunch paid off. We ...

I have posted so many Murray reports that many of you guy are probably tired of seeing the same old blah, blah, blah. Heck, if I wasn’t me, I would probably even be saying..."Geez, another Murray ...

Fishing with my son 1/2
Took my son Nathanael ultralight fishing today at Murray. Caught 7 dinks and one nice fish between us. He had a blast!
We were fishing tiny Brush Hogs t-rigged with 1/32 oz bullet weights. Casting to the rocky banks and the edges of the tullies and dragging them back. It was a relaxing awesome way ...

Kicking off 2024. 1/6 at the V
With it being 2024 now, I thought back to how tough the bite was a year ago and how between the rain and the colder temps it felt like winter was never going to end. In 2023 I had one small fish (and one big one that broke off) in January and then not a sniff till mid March.
This year, with my ...

San V 1/8
Got on the water a little later than usual this morning, launching at about 8:30 with the air temp a crisp 32. Made for a very cold first run! Ended the day with 7 with the biggest only 1.68lbs. Don’t take any pictures because I was pulling them up from 55-60ft so it was unhook and get them back in ...

Re: San V 1/8
In my experience, as long as they haven’t “bloated” when they hit the surface, and you get them back in the water quickly they will dart right back down to the bottom. The two I had to fizz, it took me a bit to get them unhooked and I, literally, watched them decompress in my hands. Their eyes ...

San V 1/11
Better day today than Monday. Day started out rainy and windy so I pulled out the spinnerbait and about 10min in I got my biggest of the day, a 3.01. That was it for any reaction bites so I picked up the dropshot and headed out deep, 40-60ft. Ended the day with 11 in the boat with at least that many ...

First of all nice job out there Moose. Catching bass in the winter is always rewarding.
And always fun to see your fish reports and pics.
Speaking of pics.......I fixed your original pics and if you go to these sites posted on SDFish, it might help you with future pics
that are sideways or upside ...

Surprisingly I didn’t this time. I tried to fight them a little longer and bring them up slower and it seemed to workFisheromen wrote: Fri Jan 12, 2024 6:33 pm Vinny the pic wizard!
Moose, did you have to fizz any fish?

Dropshotting in 40'-60' in the bushes is a tough way to make a living.....! Are you seeing the fish or just covering those depths? 11 fish, a nice winter day
Kind of both. Definitely using my electronics to locate the bushes as well as bait and fish, but also blind casting around those depths ...

San V 1/15
Today is why I love fishing! After the last couple of trips I felt pretty confident that I had the deep bite pretty well figured out…..WRONG!!

San V 1/18
Another day, another curve ball by the bass.
On the water at opening. Thankfully it was not nearly as cold as Monday! Day started off on a not so good note. When launching my boat I accidentally went a bit too far and the boat floated off without me in it! 1st time I’ve ever had that happen ...
