Myself and a old friend managed to hit Barrett this weekend...but only for around 4 hours from the bank. Still super fun. Ended with around 25 between us mostly on Flukes, Ikas and texes rigged Robo's. The lake never disappoints.

No Wednesdays in July. I'm pissed.

It's a stupid thing to do. I guess we aren't a demographic that they care about. If I could vote in San Diego, I'd be sure to vote against every one of them.

Closing on Wednesday’s will save the county a whole $200 a week, what a joke.

Maybe the savings will go towards maintaining beach fire pits and bathrooms at Balboa Park…oh wait.

Could you imagine having a resource like Barrett and not be able to make any money off of it? Only the government could pull that off. It should be an asset, not a liability. A lot these lakes around here weren’t open to the public for a very very long time. Wouldn’t be surprised if that happens again. It’s all about the alphabet club, making our streets sexy and other related crap. I never knew potholes were sexy.

I think that because the budget proposal was closing the lake on Wednesdays, they had to sell tix based on that. As it appears, the closure is not happening. I'm wondering if they will release Wednesdays once this budget is final. That would make sense...but since when does our city do things that ...

Besides the new increased prices in the recent City budget was there any mentions the cost will remain for just this year and kept for at least another year or three or subject to be bumped again in the next year’s budget?

Well...off I went for my annual (most years there are 2 of them) trip to Barrett. This time I was alone and trying my 2nd ever outing on the float tube. BLUF: I don't think I will do it again...

But...I did catch some fish...nothing big, a couple close to 3 lbs and a few dinks, but most were ...

Looks like you got some, nice work. I tubed out there once. Never again without a motor or a taxi arrangement. Got caught downwind a ways and almost killed myself kicking back lol.

I think that is what killed me too, everywhere I went I was fighting the wind...it makes me appreciate how awesome ...

19 minutes is too long to watch. I just bring my needlenose thru the gills and then the hook readily comes out, especially if barbless like it is supposed to be.

20 minutes is a real long video to not even do the thing on video. Through the gills and done in a couple seconds like gotfish said. Hemostats are more fish friendly, especially on smaller fish. The proper technique should be a poster on the billboard at Barrett.

You're almost certainly never gonna catch a bass at Barrett that needs to be fizzed or have a descending device used on it. Sometimes a fish just gets hooked/unhooked a little wrong and it can't be revived properly. Despite our best efforts, we do kill some fish. A bigger bass, bird or shorebound ...

For the rest of July and August Wednesday is back!!!! Can purchase on August Ticket day.

Not sure if it's correct but 7/8 tickets go on sale for September also.

Just received this info from the City:
"Barrett tickets for Wednesday are visible on Ticketmaster starting with Wednesday, July 23rd. Tickets will be available to be purchased on Tuesday, July 8th, along with the August dates." Sorry for the late post as I have been out of country.
