Re: Barrett Shad
I did post a picture of some freshly made shad recently. I found 3 separate groups in the shallows, all very tiny, but good size schools.

Re: Do you count your fish?
@jwall you might have me there — maybe I’m just frustrated because Theo el Machino’s counts are blowing mine away these days. In my defense, I was only counting lipped fish and someone has to drive the boat! I may sabotage his gear to level the playing field. Shhhhh…

Re: Do you count your fish?
You don't have to be competing to count fish. I like knowing how many I catch in any situation. I will often fish new lures or techniques regardless of the count just to see what works since that is how one gets better. And I count fish no matter whether I am fishing with others or alone. But you ...

Re: Outboards on aluminum boats?
You're obviously not supposed to bring your own outboard powered aluminum craft and add an extra boat to the lake. People have bent the meaning of "float tube/kayak" real far at this point. What a legitimate kayak can do has also changed a ton since the old days though. You can easily sink 20k into ...

Re: Lithium trolling motor battery recomendation
Ok so this was a test ... I have gone a full day and half of non stop trolling on a 100mh with a 55lbs trolling motor.. yesterday I tested the same set up from parking lot to pines and back zig zag threw the lake really trying to kill the battery and it made it with some life left on it....

Re: Barrett Shad
Where and how do shad spawn? Never really seen it before. And what do the fry look like?
They’ll hump on the side of your boat, your kayak, your tube, your legs and fins. Pretty much anywhere they feel like it!
Like StinkyPinky23 said you see it, you feel it and you feel used. Fry look ...

Re: California Boater Card
Renter's don't need the card.
According to the state, the vast majority of incidents occur on the non-renter side.

Re: California Boater Card
If the rental boats had 100+ HP motors, it would make sense to require a boater card but the rentals at city lakes are way less than that.

A real law that would work is to require all concessionaires to check boater's cards, and if they don't, they are also liable if something goes down.
But then revenue goes down, so here we are.

Re: New guy just trying to figure it out.
Hey Bob,
First off, I’m really sorry to hear about your wife’s health. I’ve personally been through similar situations and know how overwhelming it can be. Wishing you both strength and healing. It’s great that you’re still finding time to fish—it’s a great escape.
Now, about Barrett Lake—it’s ...

Seaguar fluro
I see that Turner’s has the Seaguar fluro carbon on sale. I use them for all my salt water trips but anyone use them for freshwater?
I’ve been using P-Line for years but would like to try Seaguar.
I’m thinking of getting either 8#-10# string but between the different types which is “better” for ...

Re: Seaguar fluro
Yes seaguar fluro is the best in my opinion . Bass fishing I only use the gold label and particularly the 12 pound . Love the stuff all the rods I bring except 1 I use the 15 pound fluorocarbon . All my rods have 20lb power pro green moss and I use a uni knot to tie braid to fluorocarbon around a 2 ...

Re: New guy just trying to figure it out.
I think the shore (float tube and kayak also) ticket only entitles you to one vehicle but up to 2 people. Boat ticket gets 2 vehicles and up to 4 people. But with either, $30 for each person beyond the ticket holder.

Re: Seaguar fluro
seaguar fluro it's a good line, but I use P line. It is a little softer then P line and breaks and frays easier also. I have tested for breaking strength and knot strength. P line was better in my testing. It's up to you.

See-garbage. Top three are Sunline, Sunline, and… Abraz-x? If you look at it wrong it gets nicked up. I’ve flipped the river with 20lb Sunline structure fc for hours, boat flipping big ones as well, and every time I’d run my hand up the line thinking it’s gotta be time to re-tie, it was as smooth as ...
