Re: Big Bay Sunday 2-2 Spotties MIA
A few recent trips ended with me having to leave biting fish to get back in as the sun was setting. So on Sunday I packed a strobe light so I'd be legal kicking home in the dark....and the sunset bite never happened. Tons of those little bay anchovies everywhere...and NOTHING chasing them. 5 ...

Re: Big Bay Sunday 2-2 Spotties MIA
Hey John, just seeing this post. We were out there the same day! Interesting experience for us as well -- the spotties were oddly few and far between. We had some variety though -- caught quite a few smelt, a small flounder, a large ray, a few small halibut, and this one -- just an inch under a ...

Re: Big Bay Sunday 2-2 Spotties MIA
For us it was a decent day -- especially if I don't read the forums where folks are catching 50+ solo! We caught around 20 total and had a blastJWall wrote: Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:48 pm That’s a beaut!! Good job fighting thru what was a slower day for myself and others!

Mission Bay Late Report- Lure Fishing Made Easy
https://youtu.be/bAUoVjnDqZU
Hey all,
I headed out last Sunday to Mission Bay with the hopes to make a video about making lure fishing easier. I wanted to showcase 3 baits that are easy for anyone to catch fish with on the bay. The first was the chatterbait. I used both the traditional bigger bait ...

Interesting catch 8/31
Got down to Shelter Island before sunup. The last few weeks I haven’t been able to buy a bite. A guy and his son I’ve ran into a few times showed up, we’re chatting and I got what felt like a huge bump, rod bendo, felt like it was glued to the bottom and there was zero fight, just dead weight. I ...

Back Bay 9/13
I went out with the Mrs. this morning. Her first fish was a nice little butterfly ray, her first. A few fish here and there. We headed back down toward J Street around 11:30 and drifted in front of the Cays. She figured out what they wanted (3” Big Hammer) and proceeded to catch 15 fish over the ...

Mariner’s
Typical session this morning catching spotties then snagged a monster. Was thinking hali at first but after awhile it became dead weight. Towed me around Mariners and finally was able to beach and land the huge mud marlin on 10 lb. Was a fun surprise. Thanks

New Seaforth Twilight 6/23
Excited by the recent fishing reports, I booked a spot on the Twilight trip on New Seaforth. Captain mentioned occasional yellowtail catch on fly lined sardines as stick baits. On the way to the fishing grounds, captain already spotted yellowtail action, fish boiling on the surface. I was super ...

Re: Barrett Sept 24
Great day on the bluegill. We seemed to be getting pecks and pulls right about the depths you were catching at. I almost set up my girl on a smaller bait to get into that action and may get better prepared for that on Saturday if the bassin is tough again. Thanks for the detailed report!

Re: Barrett Sept 24
Thanks for the great write up. Curious how you are fishing 6 to 10 feet under an indicator, are you using a breakaway/sliding type indicator?
No breakaway or slip indicator.
Nine or ten foot piece of level mono to looped to end of fly line. Anything much longer than the rod is difficult to ...

Re: Annual Service/Install FF
If it is a 2 stroke lower lubricant change and plugs ( I'd also put on a 10 micron fuel filter) also remove the prop and lube the shaft then reinstall That'll get the engine going...there are several you tube videos showing this and fairly easy to do. A water pump service if needed is a bit more ...

Re: Annual Service/Install FF
You can change out the water pump with basic tools and a little bit of room. If that motor has been used in the ocean then I'd suggest replacing the zincs but if not disregard.
