Re: Halibut Bite SD Bay

Nice video. No mediocre music in the background and good tips.

Replace the weight with a 1/4 ounce jig head and a curly tail or paddle tail grub and you get spotties in between the halibut, plus halibut will bite the grub too. And you can foul hook more rays if you are into that.

White seems to ...

Re: Be careful at speed in Big Bay!! Tons of debris

We fished south bay today - south of National City. I was actually surprised that there was less stuff floating around than I expected. Trash and debris that is. We ran into lots of floating eel grass as well a patches of other organic material.

Various types of plastic bag appear year round and as ...

Re: Fishing Mission Bay - Tips & Tricks

This still works great as it is still a relative guide to use if it being in a kayak, float tube, SUP, rental boat or a friends boat (who doesn't have a good FF);

Atmospheric Riverdance

Wanted to do a tide ride along the Coronado side of the big bay on Monday. Storm won't be here 'til Tuesday, right?

So I tied up some stuff and was ready to go.

Plan was to leave the truck near Crown Cove, portage to the Cays, and ride the tide down the bay, getting out ...

Tidelands launch 5-11-24

Started at sunrise. Hit the mooring field while waiting for friends. I was throwing a skunk buster 3/8 oz tube and had 5 by the time they got on the water. Great day of fishing out there with the wind and swell. Ended the day with 20 spotties, 1 ugly ass guitar fish, 3 halibut (1 being legal that ...

Under the Bridge 6/10

Usually have 50+ days on the bay a year but today was only my second time out in 2024. Had a friend in town who's a beginner and always wants to get on the water when he's around, especially since I started taking him to the bay instead of lakes.

Rented a boat at Seaforth in Coronado and headed ...

Re: San Diego Bay Fishing Dialed In! With A Bonefish Bonus!

Curious what time and if there was a tide in or out when you were catching everything by the strand near the end. I want to hit the bay on a week day and need to try and time the drive either before or after rush hour. I’m from Alpine and rush hour ads about an hour to the commute.

I usually ...

Re: Great Day On The Big Bay!

It was a super fun day for sure. The background made it easy to have a postcard background. I do love light line fishing though. Even the smaller ones feel like monsters!

Re: Great Day On The Big Bay!

I love watching your video's :)

I went out on the bay yesterday for the first time in years. Got on the water at 9am and went to these very same spots (based on your earlier video) with my 6 yr old grandson who's never been on the bay. Still don’t have all the SW gear I need, been mostly fishing ...

Mission Bay coolness 6/26

After the great testicular meltdown Tuesday, I decided to meet up with my buddy Randy for a waderless fishing excursion in Mission Bay. Man it felt good to fish in cool water and swim trunks.

We took off from Dana landing and went under the bridge back behind Sea World. Then we headed back all the ...

MB 7/6

My wife and I ventured out of the bay for the first time in a very long time this morning. It was froggy with some decent swell. After about 2 hrs of trolling/jigging and one small calico to show for it, we decided to try our luck with the spotties. Didn’t dawn on me that this is the busiest weekend ...

July 20 report - SD Bay

Hadn't been out for 4 months and I finally made it out Saturday afternoon. Fished from 5PM to 7PM and my buddy and I caught about 45 spotties. Fished just south of the bridge in about 15 feet of water. All fish caught on 3/8 oz jigheads and 4 inch shad tails. We first tried off the cays, but didn't ...

Re: Does frozen squid work as bait?

If you buy squid bring a sabiki and tip the hooks with it, you may be able to catch smelt or the preferred mackerel to use as bait
