Deja vu all over again!
Headed out after our set of storms not quite sure what to expect but found several willing little bucks fairly early. Had a steady pick of 2lb clones throughout the day.
The day was almost literally a repeat of last weeks trip. I ended with 18 again. Best five were just ...

Best Murray day so far this year!
Monday and Tuesday at Murray were pretty blah. A couple of clones each day, and I had to work hard to get 'em. That changed in a big way today.
I got on the water at 8 am, and decided to head to Alvarado Bay. Deep in the cove the bass were going ape $hit chasing giant schools of shad, and busting ...

Every year I make a trip out to the River to night fish the lagoon at night now that I don't have a boat. Its been a fun tradition I have had going for awhile now. From Murray to Hodges 8/22 and 8/23
Went to Otay early on Saturday morning and there were like 100 boats lined up to enter. Some kinda tournament evidently. Since I didn't relish spending the day in a washing machine with bass boats zipping to and fro, so I pivoted and went to Murray instead. I mean I was already up and dressed for ...

TO EACH THERE OWN...
Just after getting back into bass fishing 25 years ago I took the wife out so she could see what it was like, in a rental boat at Otay Lake. I had her row while I fished. She was like my trolling motor. We had barely left the docks, headed towards the dam, mostly in circles as ...

3/24 Live by the Sword, Die by the.....
Despite a pretty dang good fishing trip to Murray recently, the bass this morning put on the brakes or should I say slammed on the brakes. I stubbornly stuck to using all sorts of reaction baits and the bass just were not cooperating. It reminded me of that old saying.... "Live by the sword, die by ...

Crazy day at the Murr! Weather felt like summer, water temp said spring, and the bite was part fall, mixed with some prespawn and post spawn! I watched Vinny get a nice 4lber..and then I proceeded to lose a nice 4 on the jump and soon after had a larger fish come unbuttoned..aaarrgghhhhhh! I set my ...

TOPWATER Finally!
Pictured is the first of six total topwater bass today at Murray. None of them were big, but I am not complaining. Do you know why? Because TOPWATER, that's why!!
Bass were busting everywhere early in the morning. After that slowed down it got tough to get them on anything.

3/26 SD River
Woke up this morning and there was a light rain. I wanted to go fishing, but just sat there drinking coffee. But even though it was a late morning start, I grabbed some rain gear and headed down to the SD River. I figured I could rough it for a few hours as it was not pouring or anything.

El Capitan 3/24
Rare freshwater outing for me. I need to use the boat at least a few times a year, just to keep it from rotting. Heck the last time the cover was off was a couple of months ago so I could suck the gas out of it before it went bad and run it through the 4 runner. I know sad=/

My newish bait @ Otay 3/26
I woke up early this morning with plans on fishing Otay. I poked my head outside, and it was wet and cold, so I almost wimped out.
I'm glad I sucked it up though, because I ended up with a 26 fish day! Granted, most were clones and a few drinks, but catching numerous fish on consecutive casts is ...

Jerks at the Pond
Omar, the resident high school dropout, was whizzing past on his 3 thousand dollar scooter just as I was releasing another chunky 2 pounder back into the aquamarine colored pond. He stopped to chat and get the juice.

Re: My newish bait @ Otay 3/26
For the second trip in a row @otaymichael was getting on the water as I was leaving. How'd you do Mike? How was the afternoon bite? Inquiring minds want to know.
Man, I was so impressed with your report I couldn’t wait to start. Went topwater (getting top for the last three weeks, but it’s not ...

Re: Jerks at the Pond
When I was a young man in middle school, and high school, every year for Christmas my parents would renew my subscription to Field and Stream, and Outdoor Life. Í would read them cover to cover, but without question, month in and month out, my favorite part of each magazine were stories on the back ...

El Cap 3/28 And
I was up early ready to go until I looked outside and it was raining. Well I sat down drinking my coffee as I was not in the mood to get wet today. The weather cleared up a bit around 7 so off I went. I headed to the spot that did me well last time, but it was not it today. I landed 2 there and ...

Clone Time!
The Clones are here...that time of the year! I got to the lake in the dark and drizzle, wondering if it was a good idea....it was! Fun day, brought 21 to the tube and didn't lose any big fish, contrary to the last couple weeks! But I also didn't hook any larger fish this trip..bummer, unless you ...
