Morning Jig Time Again 8-16

Felt our way out to mid-Hauser in the dark today. Started getting bites on the green pumpkin jig n craws and stayed mostly on that til wrapping it up at 10:30 with 31 for me and a best of 3.2lbs. Didn’t see any busters and tried to stay between 10-20ft deep. The minnow and reapers added a few more ...

Re: Morning Jig Time Again 8-16

Good day! What's with the second pic, no rocks behind him.

Very observant D! We were setting up just above one of our usual stretches of rocky steeps to let the breeze drift us accordingly. But before we could get to the rocks, we started getting bites throwing at the edges of the underwater ...

Re: Morning Jig Time Again 8-16

Was there fishing closer to the front of the lake on Saturday. All jig & worm action for me with the biggest being just over 4.5 on a trick worm. Finished the day with 37 fish. Both of my thumbs are still sore two days later. Always the sign of a great morning!

I was just looking at my ...

Why, yes you are!
And those little weedless weighted Ned rigs
work well with craw baits also. I like putting
Googan Krackin craws and Strike King Rage
craws on them.
Brilliant. As usual. Thx!

Re: New Local skunk elimination (Discovery Lake edition)

Since you are in that neighborhood, do anything to get on Lake San Marcos. Fished it regularly through the 90’s and later and had many a Barrett-like day. We had friends that lived there tho, which is pretty much the ticket.

Re: Barrett Lake August 27th report

Sounds like a very fun day Dave and we noticed tiny shad fry last trip. Late spawn? Might be the answer to the popular question.

Bass Camp Open for Business 8-30

Barrett is such a great fishery that its ideal for learning new or polishing up unused presentations. That’s certainly been the case for our boat in 2025 with jig n craws so we decided after watching young legend Theo drop shotting with success and DFishin also amassing numbers doing similar, to ...

Re: Predictions for post-rain fishing?

Gearing up now! I’m hoping for some top water action in the am.

We saw plenty of swirls and splashes all over and the minnow produced too. I tried out a larger reaper fished weightless so it would stay on top of the muck. It got me a handful of fish before I decided I better not let Theo have ...

Good to be back…Big Bay 8-31

Been months since I’ve hit the bay but brought 3 rods to an informal celebration of life this morning. Before spreading ashes we fished Square Mile and just like days of old, chucking plastics and other baits produced spotties and fond memories. Most came on a perch colored minnow pinned to a 3/16 ...

Re: Personal best (Sunday 8/31)

Awesome report and day Shawn! My buddy Dan was on that exact ned rig/DT hula jig combo. We call those plastics spacemen from their funny look but the bass gobble them down! And osprey are bad ass birds!! Great pics.

Re: El Cap 9/9

Not sure if sad is the word, maybe infuriating that they have allowed yet another city lake to be effectively taken out of operation for boaters.

Re: 9/10 Late to the party

Good to see you out there David! You did better than we did — slow day for us (about 50 total). Zero top water and plenty of smaller fish making our numbers. Although your secret weapon helped Theo at the end! Beautiful day on the water though!

Secret weapon…WUT?! Lol great job all 3 of you ...
