More corvina
Got in some more corvina fishing recently. More quantity over quality compared to before but still some pretty fun fishing. All caught on rapala shadow rap or spook. I’ve really been liking the shadow raps lately. They seem to have better action than LCs even though they don’t cast as far (also ...

Gray day on the bay
Fished Tidelands this morning from the float tube. Got 31 spotted bay bass, 1 20" halibut and 1 sand bass. At least 1/3 of the spotties were in the 13-15" range. Best lures were a Missile Shockwave swimbait on a weedless standup jig head, a 5" grub on a 3/8 oz. ball head and a 4" grub on a 1/4 oz ...

Halibut
Really solid Halibut fishing in the bay the last couple of weeks from skiffs, kayak, and shore. Using sardines, smelt, and double rig with underspin and white gulp swimbaits.

Re: Ghost Shrimp Locations IN Mission Bay
I used to have an issue keeping the bait on the hook when casting. Now I've figured out around that but it doesn't stay on long enough once on the bottom because the wrasse gnaw it off. So I've always been meaning to do it with the thread but does that help with the wrasse?
Hope you packed a ...

PB Striped Bass
Hello SDFISH,
Caught this bad boy in the south bay. I was lucky ran into them that day. First hooked up bend my hook, second one landed it. Measured at 25" and 4.36 Lbs. I have see them in the past but they are not interested in my lures.

Son’s First Halibut in Mission Bay 1/13
Rented a skiff to bond with my son. Didn’t have hi expectations especially since we are beginners. Was about to call it a day and he snagged a legal halibut on live sardine. He was so pumped and now is addicted.

Re: Does frozen squid work as bait?
Thanks for the tip. May daughter had so much fun catching jacksmelt that she didn’t want me to put a hook through them. Spotties saved the day on curlytail.professionull wrote: Thu Jul 25, 2024 9:05 am If you buy squid bring a sabiki and tip the hooks with it, you may be able to catch smelt or the preferred mackerel to use as bait

Kelp Paddy Dorado & Yellowtail 8/4/2023
Late report from yesterday...
Me and the broski picked up 1/2 scoop of quality bait that was well worth the line, had two double hookups just south of 302. Then farmed a couple of open water dorado, and landed a yellowtail that made multiple runs into the paddy. They bit 15-25# flytline and the ...

Premier 5/7
We shoved off the dock on time with a load of bait and Brandon putting on a head of steam towards the west southwest. We did most of our drifts in 4-600 ft with a pound of lead due to lack of current. My largest was probably 3 pounds with a few coming up a bit bigger. I saw a few folks that came ...

Redemption 5/13
Went back out to the beach after getting a larger setup and boy am I glad I upgraded. Fished the incoming tide, about an hour after peak low. It was slow for a bit, only got that short 12" bass for the first hour. After moving down the beach a little, as the tide was coming up, I hooked onto ...

Re: South Mission FYI
Just an update, got out to Mission 2 days ago. Water conditions real good, sand crabs showed up finally. Lot of small perch, a few larger 8-10 models. Only slabs caught that I was aware of were by-catches from guys tossing LC's for hali's. Water 60+ and with crabs now showing, won't be long for ...
