Otay Yay!

Fished Lower Otay last Wednesday and had a decent day as far as numbers go. Water temps pushing over 79 degrees and pretty stained down the Harvey Arm. Lots of blowups right at the bank and we had most of our success with finesse like weightless Senko and Neko rigs. Decided to throw a jackhammer w ...

Gray day on the bay

Fished Tidelands this morning from the float tube. Got 31 spotted bay bass, 1 20" halibut and 1 sand bass. At least 1/3 of the spotties were in the 13-15" range. Best lures were a Missile Shockwave swimbait on a weedless standup jig head, a 5" grub on a 3/8 oz. ball head and a 4" grub on a 1/4 oz ...

Party crasher

I had a good spotty bite going and then this guy decides to horn in. Too big for the net, too big for the tube, had to kick to shore just to land it, probably took at least an hour just to land. Released to get bigger. Got on a 5/16 ounce jighead and 4" clear grub, 6 lb test line. 26.8 lbs, PB, my ...

Re: How much of a workout is float tubing?

Water is warm now. Don't need waders or boots. Some people get sore hips or back some don't. My back was jacked.up for a year...hurt to hike or bike but didn't bother me in the tube.
There are places on both bays with easy launches and very little tidal movement, so you can figure out whether your ...

Re: Best Float Tube Lakes

otay, el cap, murray.
dont be afraid of the bay either.

What he said.
Both bays can be a lot of fun on a float tube, once you figure out the tides..as far as being able to get back to your launch spot. Catching spotted bay bass can be stupid-easy, and you might get into a dozen other species ...

Re: Clips or No Clips

IMHO, no clips. Fresh knots can be a blessing in disguise. If you need a loop for a lure to swim free like a jerk bait or top water, learn the rapala knot. Super quick. And you can even tie a double rapala knot for heavy stuff with lighter line. Never had the rapala knot fail. My pb 13lb bass was on ...

Re: Clips or No Clips

No clips for the win this morning at Harbor Island. 3 Barracuda and 1 Mackerel within an hour. It pays off to be patient.
