Just spent the last 2 weeks fishing at Silverstrand and Camp Pendleton(Del Mar Beach). The water was cold at both places 57.3. Was a Perch fest and I was using Honey Badger baits in motor oil. Walked down to a favorite beach spot to fish a weighted weedless swimbait (shown) along the sand/rock shoreline here, with much smaller surf today.

Grandson called me Friday night and asked If I'd like to do a little surf fishing with him and his buddy... His buddy is a fisherman but hadn't surf fished since he was younger... My Grandson supplied all of the gear for him to use... We decided on fishing the inside and outside of Alamitos ...

Spent 2 hours in the afternoon trying my luck from the shore. Got couple of bites but only managed to catch a single calico.

First legal hali from the surf. Caught down in San Diego on a white fluke drop shot. It was the only fish I caught and I was just getting ready to leave to try the bay instead of the surf.

These 2 small corbina ate the same soft shell on consecutive casts. Burnout separates Torrance Beach and Redondo Beach.

Went out again on Friday for a little over a dozen BSP up to 12"... 1/2 & 1/2 dinks to decent sized.. Not as good conditions, but better fishing over all..

Conditions were great with small surf, beautiful sky and clear water... I started out using dried blood worms for 3 dink BSP, but over all slow fishing... I met a couple of buddies down there, and they were doing about the same as me... Except for one of the guys that had scrounged some sand crabs ...
