Mission bay 8/10
This Sunday was rougher than the last. Spent a good bit of time working some new baits with little to no luck. 20 fish total a mixed bag of spotties and calicos. Few of the spotties being legal or just shy of it. Most were caught on the incoming tide in the morning. Bite shut down for me around 9 ...

Re: Summer veens...
Trying to find the magic retrieve, twitch, or lure is impossible. Corvina are very random biters. No pattern, is the pattern.

Re: Mission Bay Late Report- Lure Fishing Made Easy
I went out there this morning after watching your video earlier in the week. Was my first time launching the kayak in Mission Bay. Launched from Ventura Cove Park.(Lifeguard told me the beach is swimming only when I came in, so I’ll be looking for a new spot.) FIshed from 6 to 1130 and caught 6 ...

Mariner’s
Typical session this morning catching spotties then snagged a monster. Was thinking hali at first but after awhile it became dead weight. Towed me around Mariners and finally was able to beach and land the huge mud marlin on 10 lb. Was a fun surprise. Thanks

Shark on shark
https://www.discoverwildlife.com/animal ... rk-florida
This is why you don't want to fall overboard. Reminds me of a time off Gaudalupe Island where there was a hot bite with 70 lb yellowfin tuna. Unfortunately the sharks got most of them.

LJ: Bait, Birds, Less Fish
Fished LJ last weekend and i should have gone spearfishing. Water was super clear and loaded with bait, birds and dolphins. I didnt fish the shallows, but instead fished around the outside bait balls. No fish came near the surface, all came on the bottom in the 75-120' range. All fish came on a 1 ...

NOC 6/19
Met a couple of buddies for a little surf fishing... Ton's of small sand crabs everywhere, so doubling or tripling them up was the bait of choice...
Also tons of small BSP for the taking... We all got all we needed of them but were hoping for corbina or croakers.. One buddy got 3, and I got one ...

Surf Barracuda - Labor Day 2024
On Labor Day sunset, I caught a legal barracuda from the surf, 28 inches, on a t-rigged white fluke in the La Jolla area.
I caught a short one from the sand in June, but this was a big surprise.

Re: Surf Barracuda - Labor Day 2024
Assume you knew not a hali peeling your line ! Great catch & congrats !
Thanks yes a novelty and very memorable event! It was almost dark, fish was pulling pretty hard at times. I was thinking a big calico. But I had no idea what it was until it was laying on the wet sand. Even then, it took me ...

Surf fishing waders — what do y'all use?
Hey everyone! As the water temp has dropped, I figured it's time to buy some chest waders.
There are so many options out there, from $35 to $900. What do you guys use? I want it to come with boots instead of stockingfoot.
Should I just get the cheaper option like this?
It's PVC/Nylon

Three Bs San Diego Bay Dec 19
Got onto San Diego Bay this morning for a pre storm session as well as testing a TFO NXT Black Label 6wt rod.
Not very breezy and mostly dead calm from 0800 to 1000. No rain. Small tidal change. Fished from about 0645 to 1030. Pretty good catching on the last part of the outgoing tide but things ...

Tarpon on the fly in Belize
Went on a vacation to Belize. Wasn't a fishing trip but hired a guide for a half-day morning trip on of the days we were staying at one of the Cayes. I didn't plan on fly fishing but the guide had two rods rigged up and one of the spots we stopped at had Tarpon swimming around. They didn't like the ...

AZ Gila Trout
Recently moved to Flagstaff AZ from San Diego, and I figured y'all would find this interesting. I have been fishing Oak Creek Canyon heavily, catching wild browns, stocked rainbows, and native Gila trout. The Gilas seem to love dries, especially hopper reaction bites when the fly hits the water ...

They have you park at the boat dock now and that's pretty close to the water. Watch this video and you can see the setup.

Man, that went from a float tube to the international space station. I’m going to have to stick to my hammy cramps so I can kick into the tules to hide when needed.
