Re: San Vee 4/17
Congrats on a good day. Those are nice fish. Much different lake at forty feet higher than last year. I'm still looking for a new honey hole. Good talking with you yesterday.

First day out and over 70 fish in 4 hours
Yesterday my partner and I caught over 145 fish using small finesse lures that included bass (largest was 2.5 lb, 4 pickerel (largest 2 3/4' long), many crappie, yellow and white perch and sunfish. Before we launched the boat, I made a few suggestions to my 78 y.o. partner's tackle.

I'm looking at Blackclouds' post here, and it's in the springtime.
What's the likely bluegill pattern now, Please? Where to start looking. Points?
I generally do not fish these in the summer, only because I'm busy with other fish elsewhere near home. Last week

Murray Bluegill 09-22-24
Haven't kayaked Murray in years but lazy-launched the kayak into the breeze after lunch at like 1 pm. :)
Headed to the west side of the lake and was surprised the bass were crashing on bait very randomly, here and there. Threw some small stuff at them, hooked one on a spoon and I got a couple ...

Finally PB.
It is kind of quiet in here???
Caught my PB last night, only 16” but scale at 2.83lb. This might be last big slab I’m gonna see until next year. It seem like they are feeding hard on shad before going deep for winter. BTW this one caught with Zman baby ballerz.

Re: Otay
I went back for some more panfish action last Saturday.
Very nice day on the water. Wasn't really cold in the morning. Maybe 50 degrees. The water is still full of algae tho. Maybe even worst than the last trip. Only thing which was weird is that it didn't stick to the lines and split shots and ...

2025 Lake Hodges Opener
Fished Hodges from my kayak on Wednesday Feb 5, with my Garmin Livescope. Overall, very slow fishing for bass and crappie for everyone! The lake is much lower than last year - remember that we had tons of rain in January 2024 and none so far this year. The water is a brown soup, visibility ...

Otay 5/28
I had so much fun catching that crappie this week I decided to panfish Otay. It'd been a while since I'd done it and man was it fun. I caught 12 sunfish/bluegill a long with a bunch of bass. All the fish fell victim to a Megabass Griffon crankbait.
The highlight was a massive 2 1/4 pounder. I ...

Watching that cork go down, never gets old.
There’s many ways to fish for them big panfish. I find it very challenging.
Thanks for sharing

Downtown cheetah bass
Cancelled my freshwater plans after the rain. Slept in all morning. Jumped in the water at 9:45(slack tide) calm and empty. Got bit right off.
I had a 1/4oz jig on 6lb and 1/2oz jig on 8lb. Crawling them deep in the middle of the bay. I got out at 12:30 cause it got crowded and windy.

I have had days where I absolutely nailed them at low tide in the channels next to flats using a crankbait, outside the weedline.
Have yet to find that I do any better on an Alabama rig than on a single ...

I have had days where I absolutely nailed them at low tide in the channels next to flats using a crankbait, outside the weedline.
Thanks, I'll have to try that. Do they move from the flats into the deeper channels at low tide? Have you had success fishing at high tide?
Yes, they won't stay ...

Apple bottom vines
Heres some recent shortfin corvina pics. I got the SFC bug for a couple months and let it interrupt my green fish game. It was fun, but after dropping a 9lb largemouth this weekend right at my feet, I'm kinda over it. Goin back to freshy. A couple of these fish were 26-27" the rest were medium sized ...
